Authors note: Sorry for being away, I wrote an extra long paragraph for you all. :) I think we're nearing the end. :( I never thought that I would end up writing 20 chapters! Thank you all so much! Hope you have a fantastic day! now go wash your hands.

Zain wasn't in his room when I went to check. I had to sniff him out. It was really difficult, and I didn't end up finding him. I couldn't find a strong trail. I went to the lounge room and collapsed onto a couch. No one was around, so I got back up and went to see Charlie. I knock on her office door, tucking my hair behind my ear. The door clicks and I enter.

"So, Charlie, I never got assigned?" I walk in, looking around for Charlie, but no one's here.

"Charlie?" I check behind her desk, wrapping my tail around myself. "Charlie, this isn't funny." I take a deep breath through my nose. She's here. Her rainbow-y scent is strong. "Charlie, stop messing around, I know you're in here." I stop, remembering what Alastor said this morning. I forgot to check the ceiling for spiders. I look up, and sure enough, Charlie's hugging on of the rafters, Alastor sitting next to her. I pout. "You guys are meanies."

Charlie giggles and Alastor laughs. "Sorry, Valerie," Alastor helps her down. "We weren't sure if you were going to pinch us again!"

"Sorry, love," I walk him on the arm. "Couldn't help myself darling."

I hug him and whisper "You scared me."

"Sorry, love" he repeats. Charlie clears her throat.

"Not that this isn't adorable, which it certainly is, you came here for a reason?" Charlie walks around to her chair and takes a seat behind her desk.

"Oh, yeah," I mumble, letting go of Alastor and standing in front of the desk. "So, I'm working here, right, but I haven't gotten a job?"

"Hmm, Nifty could use some help, cleaning everything by herself," She goes through a few papers. "Yeah, okay, can you do room cleaning?"

"Sure thing," I smile, taking the list of needing rooms and heading out. I stop by a closet and grab some fresh white sheets. The first room on the list is room 40. I make my way up the stairs. I knock on the door.

"Room service," I call, loudly but sweetly. The door opens and a big red fox stands there. I plaster a fake smile on my face. "Hello, sir, I'm here to change your sheets for cleaning?"

He huffs, but steps aside and lets me in. It's a pigsty in here. There are crumbled beer cans and clothes everywhere. The bed sheets are covered in pizza stains and what I hope is spilt milk. I keep a steady, beaming smile on my face as I clean off the bed, strip it and put the sheets in a basket by the door. The wolf is silently watching me as I put the fitted sheet on. I'm very glad I wore stretchy leggings and a skirt. My tail twitches and I somehow, over all the reeking pizza and alcohol, I manage to smell his poor intentions. As I set up the pillows, finished, the fox grabs my ass. I whip around and smack him in the face, growling. He growls, but its a puny little fox growl. I howl as he pushes me onto the bed, him on top. He pins my arms down, so my claws can't scratch him. Someone is banging on the door now. I can't hear them over the buzzing in my head. In a flash of white, I'm a tiny little wolf, and I'm able to wiggle out of his grasp. I quickly turn back, growing my claws as long and as strong as they can be.

*************

When I finally finish and unlock the door, Zain is standing there, about to kick it down. "Valerie!! Are you okay?" He yells, concern etched into his face. I hug him.

"I'm fine," I smile, crossing of room 40 on my list and moving towards the next one. "Just leave him, eh? He'll need some time to stop sulking."

I turn away from Zain's confused face and instead move onto the next room. By the end of the day, I was harassed by 20 or so patrons. I return to Charlie's office to give her the list. "Hey Charlie, I finished everything you wanted me to do," I knock on the door. She opens it, Alastor's in the corner, looking infuriated. "Hey Su talun~"

"Good to see you made it back in one piece," he glares at Charlie. I raise an eyebrow at him, turning to her.

"What's he on about?" Charlie looks worried.

"Well, Zain's the medic," I pale. Oops. "And he came and told me that he'd had an awful lot of people come to see him, 20 or so, and the majority had claw marks? Any idea?"

"It was self defence!" I throw my hands up. I was tired and I didn't need a lecture from Charlie. "They harassed me, and I defended myself."

"I wasn't claiming otherwise," Charlie sighed. Alastor looked about ready to murder someone.

"However, Zain has demanded that you go see him."

"I'm fine," I mumble. I wasn't exactly.... I had cuts and wounds all over. But I wasn't about to go and cry to big brother.

"You were supposed to stay with him," ALastor's quiet voice sends chills down my back. "That was the deal."

"I-I'm sorry Alastor, I couldn't find him this morning, and then I forgot," tears spring to my eyes. I hate disappointing people, and Alastor sure sounded disappointed. "I didn't mean to."

I drop my list on Charlie's desk and leave the room. I head straight for the medical ward hoping that Zain is still there. A single tear trickles down my face and I wipe it off roughly. I get to the medical ward and immediately regret my decision. 20 roughed up injured demons glare are me, each face as full of hate as the last. I hold up my hands.

"I come in peace," I gulp. If they all rush me, there's no way I can take them. "I'm just here for my brother."

"That stupid doctor is your brother?" The red fox growled. I growl at him, and he shrinks back,

"He healed you, so back off," I snap. I walk past them, head held high in a confidence I don't feel. Why do I always have to be in trouble? Why can't I have a vacation somewhere far away, with a beautiful night sky? Stars. I miss the stars. I go into the back room and find Zain sitting at a desk, filling in a bunch of paper work. "Hey...." Zain looks up at me, concern, astonishment and frustration rolling off him. "Um...Charlie said you wanted to see me?"

"Funny, she told me you were meant to have been with me," he looks me dead in the eyes, monotone. "All. Day."

I wince. "Yeah, well, I wasn't. It's over, I did it, leave it alone," I snap. "I've had a rough day."

"If you're referring to the 20 odd demons you sent to my door, then yes, you would have had a rough day Valerie," he looks back down to his papers. "I'll be with you in a moment. You can wait here," he gestures to an empty chair next to his desk. I don't sit.

"I'm fine," I lie. "I'm not here to be babied, I came because I thought you had something important to say, otherwise you wouldn't have called Charlie."

I turn and leave. Zain's office, the medical ward, the hotel. I walk out, and don't stop walking.
