"i, kokichi ouma, am the true mastermind of this killing game!"

malice. the only thing that showed was malice on kokichi's face. "y-you're the mastermind..?" shuichi choked a little. "of course i am, shuichi! i left so many clues too!" kokichi grinned even wider.

"b-but.. why? i thought-" kokichi cut him off. "you thought what? that i loved you? ha! i was just bored so i decided to make you my boytoy!"

shuichi finally let the tears he had been holding back out. "how could you?" shuichi yelled.

"you're sick!" kaito yelled at kokichi. kokichi sneered. "ohhh, sick you say? that's ironic cuz-"

"shut up!" kaito darted at kokichi. suddenly, kaito was picked up by an exisal. "hmm? don't even try, kaito. in fact, any of you." kokichi laughed.

"kaito!" maki tried to reach for him.

"forget it, it's no use." kokichi laughed.
swiftly, shuichi snatched the exisal remote from kokichi's hand.

"hey! give it back!" kokichi tried to take it back. "give it to me, shuichi." maki said, giving one of her life-or-death stares. "give it to me, shuichi. or who knows what will happen to poor kaito.." kokichi trailed off.

shuichi hesitantly handed the remote back to kokichi. "good boy!" kokichi grinned. shuichi looked at maki.

"coward." maki spat, as cold as ice. shuichi looked away. "now, if you excuse me, i have business to attend to! buh-bye!" and with that, kokichi and kaito disappeared from the students' sight.

kokichi's pov

"i didn't really drink the antidote," kokichi coughed as he handed it over to kaito. "what?" kaito asked confused before he consumed the liquid.

"but.. why..?" kaito asked as he wiped his mouth. "simple, the antidote was a small price." kokichi grinned.

"you have to help me with something."

kokichi explained his plan to kaito. "wow, kokichi.. um, i never knew you wanted to end this so badly." kaito mumbled, filled to the brim with guilt.

kokichi giggled in return. "so, do we have a deal or not?" kokichi put out his hand.

"deal."

shuichi's pov

shuichi trembled a little as he slowly walked towards his podium. this trial was covering an unknown person's murder case.

he knew it was kokichi, it had to be kokichi. shuichi breathed in and out as he felt tiny drops of water rolling down his face. kokichi.. why did you have to do this..? shuichi's eyes began to well up even more.

"shuichi? it's going to be okay!" keebo tried to comfort him. shuichi smiled and nodded.

he was going to do this, for everyone, for himself, for kokichi.

"i've.. never fallen for someone before!" maki choked out, tears streaming down her face.

kaito gave one of his motivational grins. "if you fell for someone like me, i know you can do it, maki roll!" kaito's voice still having that confident feel to it.

"oh and, sidekick?" kaito glanced at the silent blue-haired boy. "kokichi wanted me to give something to you, you should read it." kaito handed shuichi a letter and a parcel.

shuichi nodded and placed the note in his pocket.

"puhuhu, it's punishment time!" monokuma pushed the button as everyone watched the execution unfold.

"your execution failed!" maki said. "kaito.. he didn't die from it, he died from his disease.." maki smiled slightly. "he.. he won!"

monokuma just growled in return.

-

shuichi sat on his bed as he unfolded kokichi's letter.

"dear shuichi/shumai/sleepyhead/saihara-chan," shuichi smiled at the nicknames kokichi had given him. "if you got this letter, it probably means i'm loonngg gone! but don't miss me too much, who knows? we might meet in our next life and have many kids!" shuichi blushed.

"well anways, congrats on figuring out the case! i knew my favourite detective could do it. now, i have left many clues that could actually end the killing game! but you have to find them yourself!" at this point, shuichi's eyes were already flooded with tears.

"oh! i want you to have my scarf, i hope it'll always remind you of me. i know you'll definitely escape from this hellhole and live!"

"lastly, i wanted you to know, for the last time, that i love you. i love you with all my heart. you were always there for me, why, you even broke my mask!"

"i love you a lot, shuichi. and it makes me happy to know that you do too. i love you shuichi. escape from the hellhole and live, please. that is my will."

"get out and live, live for me. live for us. i'll always be by your side, my beloved detective. - your favourite purple-haired boyfriend"

shuichi sniffed. he grabbed a pillow and softly cried into it. he unwrapped the parcel that contained kokichi's scarf. he wrapped it around his neck.

"i love you too, kokichi. and i promise you, i will escape and live for you. for us."

-

"i refuse that hope!" shuichi yelled. "i'd rather use my life to end this game rather to escape! i will use my life to end danganronpa!"

"end danganronpa?" tsumugi asked, confused. "the killing games will never end! they will continue forever!" tsumugi grinned.

"that might be what you think, and it's false! himiko, keebo, maki and i will end this killing game, end danganronpa!"

tsumugi just sneered in response. "too bad, if keebo votes for me or himself, your plan will fail." shuichi's face softened. no, you have to fight back. shuichi breathed in and started to refute.

-

"n-nobody voted?!" monokuma yelled in rage. tsumugi's face turned blank.

"what?!"

"the audience must've seen the cruel truth and decided not to vote," shuichi  stated as the screens once filled with millions of faces started to lose viewers.

"no.. this can't be.." tsumugi looked a little panicked."buut, i guess it's okay. afterall, no matter what you do, danganronpa will always go on!" tsumugi yelled.

"no, it won't, cuz we stopped it." himiko yelled. "yes, danganronpa has ended." maki supported himiko's statement.

"y'know, you guys have some nerve.." tsumugi cackled. "oh well, it's punishment time!"

-

shuichi helped himiko up as the trio stood infront of the broken cage. "we're.. free," maki huffed. "nyeh.. i'm so tired.." himiko sighed.

"ah, you can climb on my back." shuichi smiled as himiko crawled up. "so, we're finally free, huh?" maki looked at shuichi. he nodded.

"i guess so," shuichi sighed. "where will we go now" maki asked. shuichi shrugged. "let's.. just walk forward and not look back," he tried to imitate kaito. maki laughed a little.

"thank you," she sighed. the trio started moving and walked into the distance.

live for me, live for us.

may we meet again in our next lives.
