Afternoon practise was, pretty much, hell. It was awkward and Shōyō wished he could go back in time and just beg Tanaka to join the lunch practise session instead of saying no. Kageyama wasn't sending him tosses, simply irritated the 'dumbass' had passed a chance to practise either his receives, serves or their quick. Tanaka and Noya weren't talking to him which was weird enough on its own and he had caught Sugawara staring at him, but the latter had always pretended he wasn't.
"Gather up!" Ukai exclaimed, the team dropped whatever they were doing and stood in front of him. He looked at every one of them carefully before sighing "What is up with you guys? Nobody is concentrated! Especially you shrimpy! I think you should cut this 'staying after practise' crap because it clearly isn't doing you any good." Ukai was angry, and he was angry at Shōyō who only cowered at his gaze.
"Please don't... I'm actually helping Yamaguchi with his serves...! Or more like he's helping me..." Shōyō mumbled and Yamaguchi nodded, he knew what was up and why Shōyō couldn't afford to not stay after practise.
"We're planning on extending practise so instead of stopping at five, we stop at around seven and eight for those that want to stay longer." Daichi added and Shōyō had never been more panicked in his whole life. He had to inform Natsu.
"Oh... ok. I just... have to call my mom and ask her about a paper. The... the permission slip for Thursday!" Shōyō fumbled, trying to get away.
"Don't you live with your dad?" Noya asked and Shōyō flinched.
"You already gave me the permission slip." Ukai crossed his arms, Shōyō just wanted to disappear. Couldn't he just, miraculously inform Natsu without his team knowing?
"What do you need a permission slip for anyway?" Kageyama asked, a frown on his face.
"I... I'm not attending school at all on Thursday. I have to do something." Shōyō mumbled "Let's continue practise!!" he exclaimed, surprising everyone including himself. Ukai sighed and waved them off. Where is Takeda when you need him?
Luckily, they didn't keep their attitude for long and Kageyama was less... scowly. He actually sent a few tosses here and there and Tanaka and Noya talked as if nothing had happened.
Did they plan this? Was this planned? Did he fall right into everyone's trap?
He was nervous the rest of practise but didn't let it show. NatsU usually came at five thirty and their last water break was about an hour and a half an ago. It's five right now so their next water break should be right about when she comes. Shōyō really hopes this will work, both Natsu and his coach were unpredictable after all. The last thing Shōyō wanted was for Natsu to come ear-
"Yo Shō!" she said as she froze mid step. Just his luck...
"N-Natsu!! What a surprise! What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you to inform me before you came to watch my practise?" Shōyō laughed awkwardly, walking up to her. She ruined everything, she just had to come early today "You should leave. I think dad wanted some help with umm... cooking! You know how our dad is a terrible cook!"
"What are you talking about? He's a professional. Are you an actual idiot?" she scowled, how did he dare to make her seem like an idiot in front of a bunch of boys?
"Shut up! I don't want them to know I do gymnastics...!" Shōyō hissed under his breath. She looked genuinely surprised.
"Oh..."
"Is that your sister?! You never told us you had a twin sister!!" Noya exclaimed, running over to them.
"Fuck me..." Shōyō whispered under his breath as he turned around and smiled goofily. Natsu coughed to hide her laughter.
