Chapter 7

Today it was only Shōyō and Akihiko by his table to eat lunch.

"I hope she's better by tomorrow..." Akihiko sulked as he put his head down on the table.

"Look. If you're just going to sit there and mutter like that I might as well join the team's practise session. So stop being depressed because your girlfriend is sick or I'll leave you here on your own." Shōyō pointed his chopsticks at Akihiko and continued eating.

"Can't you see I'm in pain Shōyō?! I can't spend a second without her...!" Akihiko exclaimed.

"You've only been dating for a day or two! Chill out man! Besides, she'll be fine by tomorrow! She said so herself!" Shōyō answered with a small frown on his face.

"Easy for you to say. At least your crush is here today!" Akihiko stuck out his tongue and Shōyō blushed.

"I've already told you that I don't like Yamaguchi that way!"

"And who told you that I said that your crush was freckle-boy?" Akihiko smirked and Shōyō was hit by the realization, the blush spread itself across his cheeks and took over his face "That's all you buddy! It was you who admitted you liked him, not me!" Akihiko laughed as Shōyō became more flustered.

"I hate you so much..." Shōyō lowered his gaze and hid his face in his right hand. The tips of his ears were burning red.

"Hey, there's nothing wrong with that! In fact, I think he likes you too!" Akihiko nudged him but Shōyō didn't pay any attention to him "Hey! You used to tease me and Meng all the time! So it's only fair if I tease you about your crush on freckles!"

"Is it really ok though? I mean, what if..." Shōyō began with a hushed tone but was cut off by Akihiko.

"Stop with the all negative what if's! There's nothing wrong with liking boys! We all have a gay or bi cousin, or whatever, don't we? In this case it's you! Be happy!" Akihiko smiled and Shōyō chuckled in response.

"I guess... but do you really think he likes me back? I'm still too nervous... I don't even know when I started liking him, this is ridiculous!" Shōyō held his flaming hot cheeks.

"I remember exactly when I started liking Meng and I'm 100% sure she doesn't even remember why she likes me in the first place, but I don't mind that. Because that's just how she is, and I love that in her." Akihiko smiled and Shōyō smirked.

"She's going to be so mad if she hears that...! You're in danger Akihiko!" Shōyō laughed and Akihiko paled.

"No, no, no! This conversation will remain between you and me, alright? You have no right to tell Meng how much I love her. That's my job." Akihiko pointed an accusing finger at Shōyō who put his hands up in the air.

"Alright her knight in shining armour. I won't be coming between you and your princess trust me." Shōyō laughed.

"You better not." Akihiko answered and they were quiet. The only thing that was heard were the few other conversations in the classroom.

"Hey, Akihiko...?" Shōyō asked quietly as he ate.

"Yes?" Akihiko sipped from his juice box.

"What should I do? If I want to get closer to Yamaguchi?" Shōyō looked up at Akihiko with serious eyes. He was met by a surprised expression but was soon replaced by a serious one.

"I have no idea." Akihiko answered and Shōyō swore that he'd kill him sooner or later.

"Are you serious?" Shōyō asked with an irritated tone and Akihiko nodded "Then what did you do with Meng?"
