As soon as the sun started to rise the convoy was on it's way up the mountain. They were attacked by robots a few times leading to three more injuries which all the soldiers blamed the Guardians for.
"That's five injuries and the soldiers won't stop giving us the stink eye." Jesse whispered to Beca.
"Yeah I noticed but by the looks of things we could be at our destination by tonight. Then we can move on from this nightmare." Beca sighed.
"Can you stop slacking off and walk faster for us to get there quicker?!" Markus yelled.
"That's it! I officially hate your girlfriend's dad!" Flo whisper yelled to Emily.
"Get over it." Emily shrugged.
"Let's just keep going before I strangle someone." Cynthia said.
They kept going until once again night fell and they had to make camp.
Everyone was sitting in a group as they shared stories about their friends and families. They were all actually having a good time but it was cut short when Beca told everyone to get geared up.
"What's the meaning of this?!" Carlos asked.
"Quake fells something coming this way. I just want everyone prepared for the worst even if it's nothing." Beca answered.
"No, I will not have my men panicking over what could possibly be a gopher." Matthew said.
"This isn't a gopher. It's larger, heavier and there's about thirty of them." Cynthia told the man.
"Get everyone geared up, NOW." Beca commanded.
"We don't take orders from you." Markus said.
"Shut up! Can you hear that?" Emily asked.
"Hear what?" Markus asked.
"How good it sounds when you shut up." Beca smirked.
"No that's not it, although it does sound good. Something's coming this way and it doesn't sound friendly." Emily gulped.
"Uhh!" Markus yelled before falling to the ground to hold his thigh. "I've just been shot!"
"Take cover, now!" Beca yelled before more shots were fired. Emily helped Markus to his feet and got him to cover.
"Are you okay?" Emily asked an angry Markus.
"I just got shot! What part of that makes you think I'd be okay?"
"I'm just trying to be nice dude calm down. Hang in there I'll get you a medic."
Emily ran towards the medics while dodging the shots being fired at her. "I need a medic for Markus like right now."
"We are not going anywhere while shots are still being fired." one of the medics said.
"Are you kidding me? What kid of soldiers are you guys?"
"The kind that want to make it back home to their kids."
"Fine just give me anything I'll need to treat a bullet wound. I'll do it myself." Emily commanded and they gave her all she needed.
She ran back to where she left Markus only to find him gone. She looked around and saw him in the line of fire. "This guy is gonna get himself killed."
Emily ran towards him and pulled him behind a boulder. "Why would you go in the line of fire like that?! You're already injured you idiot!"
"What makes you think you can talk to me like that freak show?!" Markus yelled angrily.
"Just shut the fuck up already! I just risked my life to save your ass so you have no right to be mad at me. Now bite down on this." Emily gave Markus a rag before she pulled the bullet out.
"Oh My God!!!" Markus yelled.
"What part of bite down on the rag don't you understand? This is gonna hurt a bit." Emily said before she poured a bit of alcohol on his wound. She then rapped a bandage around his thigh. "There, good as new."
"You could've given me a warning before doing that." Markus breathed out heavily.
"I told you it was gonna hurt." Emily shrugged.
"Volt you need to get Markus somewhere safer! He's a sitting duck over there!" Beca yelled from her spot next to Matthew.
"Where should I take him? The place is swarming."
"There's a medic car not far from here you can take him there. That's where the rest of the soldiers are." Carlos said and that's when Emily realised that the only people around were her team along with Markus, Carlos and Matthew.
"Wait there, I'll take him to the car." Beca said.
"You can't leave Matthew alone so I'll do it. Jesse said.
"No, you have to stay where you are. I'll do it." Cynthia said.
"You guys can keep arguing over nothing cause Volt is already gone with Markus." Carlos pointed out.
"Where did they go?" Beca asked.
"She carried him to the car obviously." Matthew said looking at Beca like she was an idiot.
"Shut up and shoot." Beca said as they finished off the last of the robots.
They all walked towards the soldiers to find Emily passed out on the ground.
"What happened to her?!" Beca yelled running to Emily's side.
"A few robots showed up and she disabled them all at the same time. I think it took a lot out of her." Markus explained.
"She needs to rest for a few hours. I'll take her lookout shift, the rest of you go get some rest." Beca said after putting a makeshift pillow under Emily's head.
"Is she going to be okay?" Beca heard Stacie ask.
"She'll be fine after she gets some rest Stace. Don't worry too much." Beca said in soft tone.
"Okay, thanks. Chloe wants to talk to you by the way."
"Hey Becs." the cheery redhead said through the communicator.
"Hey there red. How was your day?"
"It wasn't any fun without you here. I really miss you Becs, I have nothing to do here other than listen to Amy talk about being a hero."
"Amy wants to be a hero now?"
"Yes and so do I. I want to fight by your side not just sit here and watch you fight alone."
"Chloe what I do is too dangerous. I can't live with myself if anything happened to you."
"Yeah but Beca I wanna help you fight, I wan-"
"I said no! Five people I love and care for are already putting their lives on the line, I can't add one more to that list. Please just drop the matter." Beca pleaded.
"Okay, I'll drop it. Just please stay safe Becs."
"I will, that's a promise. Goodnight Chlo."
"Goodnight Becs."
