Chapter 2

Like Sherry said she came by a week later.

I got butterflies in my stomach the moment I saw her plane land.

And its not because I missed her!

Its because I am finally going to know about my mom's whereabouts, okay?

Geez...

I waited for her as she got off the plane and made her way towards me.

Sherry- "Jake! Sorry I took long to get here, I had to take care of something before I left."

Jake- "Um, Its fine...I guess...I'm just happy to see you came."

Sherry slowly looked down then quickly turned around and pulled out her phone.

Did..Did she blush?

Sherry- "So um...who is this person you need to find?"

Dammit.

I didn't really have time to figure out a cover for my mom.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the truth slips out but I didn't think it was gonna happen THIS soon.

Well I guess I can't hide it forever.

Sherry- "Jake?"

Me- "Its.....Its...."

I let out an annoyed sigh.

Me- "......Its my mom..."

Sherry didn't say anything.

But she had this look on her face that I was trying to avoid.

Just please don't cry.

Sherry- "You...Your mother's gone missing?"

Me- "Yeah....so?"

Sherry- "SO? Jake she must mean a lot to you if you asked someone else to help you."

Me- "I guess..."

With that Sherry looked into her phone.

Sherry- "Well....when we drew blood out of you for the vaccine, we ran a test to see if you had any relatives on file and there was none so....I guess that's a good sign?"

Me- "How is that a good sign?"

Sherry- "Well...since your father is....."

Me- "Its okay..."

Sherry- ".....If we have no one on file relating to you, then they are either in hiding or......."

Me- "Or?"

Sherry- "....dead."

I threw my head back a bit in annoyance.

That's one word I don't like to hear next to my mother's name, but I knew she meant nothing by it.

At least I hope she doesn't.

Me- "Alright...so where do we start?"

Sherry- "Where was the last time you saw her?"

Me- "Back home...but its a pretty far ride."

Sherry- "Jake, if distance is an issue...then we will never find your mother."

I sighed deeply.

Me- "I don't know how long you planned on staying."

Sherry- "I already told my supervisor that I won't return until I finish helping you...even if it takes months Jake, I will help you find her....you can count on it."
