*4 years later*
(Jake's POV)
Man, these past few days have been such an adrenaline rush.
One day I was a merc and then the next day I am what people call me 'Humanity's Relief?'
What the hell does that even mean?
Just because my blood has antibodies that can fight off any virus?
Surely I'm not the only one who has the antibodies.
I mean come on, you seriously think I was gonna let people take blood out of me without a price?
Hell no.
I mean I did ask for 50 million dollars at first.
But after that whole incident with the C-Virus and the J'avos, I kind of started to feel a little bad about the asking price.
I was thinking about lowering it, until something else came to mind.
My mom.
God she hasn't crossed my mind in years.
Last time I saw her was about 3-4 years ago, but that day still bugged the sh*t out of me.
Mom didn't want me to become a mercenary but what choice did I f*cking have?
She had gotten sick and we needed money so she could get the treatment she needed.
For the past year and a half she kept getting these migraines that keep her from not only working, but also from staying awake in general.
She had seen about 5 doctors with the little money she had saved up for my 'college' funds, sorry I had to, and they all couldn't find out exactly what she has.
They all recommended that she gets surgery in her head so they could get a better look.
But mom was pretty apprehensive about it.
She said that she's not okay with getting treatment if the doctors have no idea what the f*ck is causing her migraines.
I had tried to convince her to go through with it but even if she decided to, there was no way in hell we could've been able to afford the medical bill.
So that's when I decided to become a merc, much to mom's dismay.
But in the end I was able to get the money for the bill in no time.
But when I came back from a mission she was gone.
There was no trace of her.
All I found was some blood in the sink along with some blood droplets leading towards the door.
But that was it.
The blood I found wasn't even enough to concern me.
It didn't look like a murder scene so I wasn't worried.
But what did worry me was where the hell my mom went.
The place didn't look like it was broken into And I couldn't follow the blood droplets since they stop about 3 feet before they reach the front door.
Tracking her down got harder and harder because I couldn't find anything regarding her disappearance.
There was no solid evidence for me to trance and not only that but there were no clues in the house that could give me an idea as to where she could've gone.
I remembered at some point I just decided that my mom was dead and continued on with my life.
I decided it, but I just refused to accept it.
