ANDDDD with this chapter she's back with a bang ;)

"Morning," the receptionist smiled as I entered the building and checked in with my I card.

"Good Morning," I replied with a smile. I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned around.

"Hi,"

"Hi Eesha, how was your function?" I asked her as I kept my identification card on the table while rummaging through my purse to find my lip balm.

"It was great! I even met a guy," she gushed and pulled me towards the lift.

"Really?" I smiled at her excitement.

"Yes, he's actually a family friend. We ended up talking the whole night while our parents also chatted. And I have such a strong feeling that his parents will come and ask my parents for my hand in marriage soon."

"Wow, that's great! I mean... do you think you'll say yes to him?"

She jumped excitedly and hugged me. "Yes Meeraaaa! He's super good looking and after all the talks we had, I think he's a good person as well."

I hugged her back and smiled before pulling back. "Just be careful, Eesha. Get to know him more before any kind of commitment." I had gone through the same thing because I had no choice of getting to know my husband before marriage, but Eesha should get that choice.

"Okay, thanks for being a good friend, Meera. I really appreciate it."

I smiled and nodded as we made the way to our table.

"By the way, when are you planning to settle down?"

"Actually, I—"

I was interrupted by a voice just behind me. "Meera? Kartik sir is calling you in his office."

I turned around in confusion. "Me?"

"Yes," the guy nodded and I stood up to go the cabin. I knocked on the door in front of which his name plate was.

"Come in," his voice came and I stepped inside.

"You asked for me?"

He stood up from behind his desk and came forwards. His face broke out in a huge grin. "Wow. Meera, yesterday when I came back after the lunch break I read all the notes you left on the manuscript and let me tell you, I was amazed. They were just so good! And that's not just my opinion, I sent it for processing and with the changes they'll make due to your notes, the book's gonna be even better than before!"

I stood there with my mouth wide open, but no words tumbled out. "Are you- are you serious?"

"Yes Meera! Your notes were amazing! The next manuscript is already waiting for you at the table. If you continue your work like this, it won't be long before you're offered a full time job here!" He continued praising me and I blushed. This was new to me. I had been praised for my culinary skills,  for keeping my house clean and tidy, for bringing up my son with all the Indian values but this... this was the first time I was being praised for my work. Work which I was doing for my own self.

"Thankyou so much Kartik! I can't tell you how much this means to me. Thank you so much," I smiled happily.

"No problem," Kartik grinned at me as he leaned back on his desk with his arms crossed across his desk. He looked like a supermodel then and I wondered how in the world he landed in publishing. "Now quick, off to work you go. Now you've set a benchmark for yourself so I hope your work will show the same quality."

"Of course," I smiled before exiting. I squealed once I stood in front of Eesha.

"Girl, what's got you so happy?"
