That particular interaction had passed as quickly as it had occurred - Meera and Alia gossiped about how Kabir had asked her to close the door, but soon they realised it was not a matter to spend a lot of time on.It was going to be Diwali soon, and Meera wanted to go for shopping. "Ma, when are we going for shopping?"
It was already six in the evening but Meera wanted to buy a latest lahenga before the fresh stock ran out at her favourite store.
"We won't be able to come today," Meera's mother said referring to her father, "We have to go to Munshi uncle's place. But you can go with Aman."
Oh, well. Now she would have to ask him.
She ran up to his room and knocked. "Yes?" he called out.
"It's me. Open the door, bhaiya." Meera said.
The door opened and in she went. There was Kabir and one more boy in the room, one whose name she didn't remember.
Meera focused on her brother. "Mom wants us to go to the mall to buy our Diwali clothes today. So are we going?"
Aman groaned. "I don't want to. Look, my friends are here and we were playing this video game. We can go tomorrow if you want."
"Diwali is in a week," piped in Kabir. He continued, "let's just go. We all can go together, right?"
The other boy also agreed so Aman accepted his fate too, and said yes.
"Okay, we'll go."

At the shopping mall, Meera led them to her favourite store where she started going through the latest collection of lahengas while the boys looked around for their kurtas.
Meera was taking two lahengas to try but just before she went inside the trial room, Kabir cornered her.
"Here," he handed her a blush pink coloured lahenga with net dupatta, "you should try this one."
She clutched the lahenga in her hand and looked around while Kabir walked to the boys. He had his hands in his pocket and was wearing some really cool grey joggers and a black hoodie. Amar and the other boy were talking among themselves and Meera suddenly felt grateful that he hadn't noticed the little exchange between Meera and Kabir.
She tried on the lahenga and it fitted her perfectly. The blouse with intricate designs fitted her petite figure and complemented her breasts and the skirt was really flowy. A little skin was visible but it didn't look vulgar at all. It actually looked quite cute on her. She draped her dupatta and walked out of the trial room.
"Bhaiya?" she called out to Aman, wanting to ask his opinion. All three boys turned to look at her.
Kabir nodded at her appreciatively and a small smile slid on his face. He felt that she looked really pretty in it.
Aman looked quite impressed too, it definitely did look good on her. "You look good Meera, you want to buy this one?"
"Yes, please."
They walked out of the mall when suddenly Aman said to the boys, "Raj isn't well since a few days and he's been hospitalised. I want to check in on him, so who can come with me?"
