CHAPTER 22

"Mummy, can I watch television?"

"Yuv," I scolded. "It's only 11 am yet, why do you want to watch television so early in the morning?"

"I wanted to watch a movie." He admitted.

I sighed. Could I ever refuse him?

"Okay, what's the golden word?" I asked with my eyebrow raised.

"Please!" He jumped up in excitement and rushed to give me a hug, making me laugh loudly.

"Okay, okay. You can watch it but only if you promise to help me with laying the table for lunch today."

"Of course, mummy." He smiled at me before focusing on the dance movie that was playing. I watched him in silence for a bit, a small smile playing on my lips as he continued watching the movie, his face breaking out into a laugh whenever a funny moment was shown.

God, how adorable he was. I loved him so much.

After finishing up the cooking for the day, I realised that I still had some time on my hands as Pawan had gone to his usual Sunday golf so I decided to call Simmi. I rang her but she didn't pick up and a second later I received a text from her.

Hey babes, busy with Meeshu. Call you in a while.

Okay, I replied.

True to her words she called back in ten minutes.

"Hi," she breathed out. "Sorry, I was bathing Meeshu."

"This late?"

"We woke up late today," she laughed. "Actually yesterday night Meeshu wanted to watch a princess movie, that too late at night. So we made some popcorn and snacks and watched the movie although she fell asleep halfway through it."

"I hope at least you watched the entire movie! I mean I would have. I absolutely love the Disney movies but since Yuv is a boy, he doesn't like all the barbie and princess stuff. Sometimes I wish I had another daughter with whom I could relive my childhood."

"Amen." She laughed. "Well, how's everything going on at home?"

"Good, everything's fine at home. Yuv's watching a movie right now, and Pawan has gone out with his office colleagues for his Sunday golf."

"And what about you? What are you doing?"

"Nothing, just relaxing. You know what? I just remembered something!" I exclaimed excitedly.

"Tell me!" She gushed and I laughed.

"I joined MPH as an intern and day before yesterday, Kartik praised me for my notes on the manuscript and you know what?! He said that if my work continues like that, I might even be offered a full time job!"

"Wow Meera! That's great! I knew you had it in you, I'm so proud of you."

"Really?"

"Of course. By the way, Kartik huh?"

I giggled at her suggestive tone. "Shut up, Simmi! He's my boss!"

"So? I don't hear you calling him sir." I could hear the smile in her tone.

"Oh god, I promise! He's my boss but we're more like friends. We've even had lunch after work once or twice."

"Wow, that's some office romance, huh?"

I giggled and she joined me. It was almost like we were kids again. "No! I swear!"

"Tell me," she pushed, "how does he look?"

For a second I wanted to lie, but then it wouldn't be fair to his looks. "He's so handsome. Everyone on our floor is mad over him! He's like a model." I continued praising.

"Ahem ahem, so do you have a crush on him now?"

"No, of course not! Now change the topic, please." I was getting flustered by the second.

"Accha baba, okay. By the way, I just remembered something."

"Hm?"

"When you applied for the internship program, did you give my number?"

"Yes, actually I didn't want to give my number since Pawan could see it and I haven't told anyone about the internship. Is that a problem?"

"Oh, no not at all. I don't mind. So... I actually wanted to tell you something, but please don't get your hopes high."

"Okay, now you're scaring me. What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong... I just received a call and the person who called claimed that they got your number from MPH..."

"Okay, so who was it? Wait, was it Eesha? She's my new friend there." I explained.

I could hear Simmi swallow nervously. "Actually, no. You probably won't believe it but it's someone from your past."
