Turning the corner I approached the gym, normally I like to jog there instead of driving as it means I'm doing that extra of a workout, plus Maple Bay was pretty small, so it wasn't very far from home or ever very busy here. I was virtually the only person to ever use the place, most days anyway, I made my way inside and did a quick warm up so that I wouldn't hurt any muscles and wandered to the treadmills. As per there no was no one else there, so I grabbed my favourite spot by the window and started my run, taking it slow before picking up some pace, it's not a workout if you don't build up a sweat. I had my headphones on and gym playlist blaring as I was completely oblivious to the world around me, only focused on myself and my pace.

I was so distracted that I found myself caught off guard when out of the corner of my eye I noticed a shorter figure on the mill next to me. I felt my body jolt with surprise, making me trip and fall off the treadmill, grazing my knee on the running track. "Oh bro!" The figure from next to me shouted, stopping their run and kneeling at me side, "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you, just wanted to catch up but you seemed pretty engrossed in your music." Looking up i recognised them as my old college buddy (Y/N), my cheeks immediately flushed red, 'this is so embarrassing!' "Ah it's no problem," I choked out, fumbling over my words "I just didn't expect anyone else t-that was all." I got to my feet and smiled at my old friend. She looked just as a wonderful as she always did, even in gym wear, one look was enough to make any man nervous, and it was definitely having that effect on me. She grinned and playfully bumped me on the arm "Come on then big guy, lets get back to it." she giggled jumping back up onto her treadmill to continue a jog. I nodded and took my spot next to the smaller lady, noticing that I was shaky on my feet unlike before, this workout was going to be tough.

Some time later we had finished our set, I could feel the clothes sticking to my body with sweat, gross. (Y/N) smiled in my direction and moved her hair from out of her face, revealing her beautiful (E/C) eyes, I could feel myself start to get lost staring in them when she coughed abruptly, brining me back, 'oh god she totally saw that didn't she?' I cracked my beck and clapped my hands together. "Uh g-good workout bro-" I stuttered, she nodded and slapped me on the back jokingly. "I'm sweating bullets, I need to get home and shower but we should meet up sometime." I inhaled sharply at her words, "Meet up?" I questioned, composing myself. "Yeah, I'll see you at the Coffee Spoon at 2, sharp." she grinned, walking away with confidence in her stride. I found myself glued to the spot, stunned, how did she do that so easily? Not one trip on her words. "Be there!" I heard (Y/N) shout through the building as she exited the gym entrance, I need to get home and get ready, now.

I nervously fiddled with the collar of my shirt as a turned the corner to the small coffee place, I had picked out a simple blue flannel, I wanted to look nice but not like I thought was a date, 'it's not right? Oh god what if it is.' I stepped inside to see (Y/N) was already in and sat in the corner seat, I wasn't late was I? I ordered a black coffee from the polite man behind the counter and made my way over to where she was sat. She too was only dressed casual but still managed to look amazing, her simple summer t-shirt nicely complimenting her shape. (Y/N) looked up with a smile and my eyes met hers, they shined beautifully in the sunlight from the window. I took the seat opposite her and sat my coffee on the table.

"Wow, you actually showed up!" she giggled, I didn't have a great track record as I would always forget to hang out once we had left college, and god did I feel guilty about it now, I was just too nervous to show, but hopefully she didn't know that. I spared a chuckle and took a sip from the piping hot coffee. "You thought I wouldn't?" I smirk trying to mask my nerves, she leans over the table, dauntingly close to my face to smack me on the arm again like she had that morning. "You know I joke." (Y/N) rolled her eyes as I noticed a subtle blush creep to her cheeks, god she's so cute. I could feel butterflies making my shiver, I cleared my throat and grinned. "Well it's n-nice to hang out again." I mumbled, tripping on my words yet again. "Yeah, it really is, I missed you bro." She looks up at me, fiddling with the cuff of her hoodie, it was oddly familiar for some reason, looking closer I realised it was one of my old ones from college, I had given it to her one time when she was ill and never took it back, I guess she must have kept it. I felt a deep blush rise to my cheeks upon realising, I can't believe she still has it. An awkward silence fell over us as we finished our coffees and got up to leave the shop.

"So where are you staying?" I ask, she looks at me quizzically and crosses her arms "Are you asking me where I live?" She questions with a smile. "N-not in a creepy way! I-" I blurt out in a panic, causing her to chuckle, I awkwardly laugh along with her and scratch the back of my neck, 'for god sake Craig.' "The cul-de-sac up the way, it's pretty nice." I nod and think for a moment "Hey wait I live there too!" I smile widely, glad we're close to one another again since our dorm time. "Oh you do?" (Y/N) beams "Weird we haven't really seen each other before then, if we apparently live so close." I nod in agreement as we approach the sort of ring of houses at the end of the road.

"Well I'll see you 'round, maybe at the gym again." My old friend smiles at me as we approach her door, "Hopefully," I cough out "Today was fun, thanks." I stumble. She giggles a little and unlocks her house, "Thanks Craig, have a good one." I wave timidly as she turns back to face me, holding me by the shoulders and leaving a gentle kiss to my left cheek. I stand shocked as she laughs at my surprise, entering her house and waving bye at the window. I hold my cheek and shyly smile at her, god I missed this.
