*Outsider P.O.V.*
It was a Thursday afternoon, when you were scheduled to tutor the Christiansen twins after school. According to their mother, Mary the local drunk, they were falling behind in eduction. This was no surprise to you as the two of them appeared rather dormant, there was no light in their eyes, only grey, it gave you the shivers just to look at the pair of them. However, you needed the pay, you'd recently found yourself out of a job and you knew the church leader was one to cough up if you do a good job. He was outrageously kind, it puzzled you sometimes, to say his children were the embodiment of a nightmare and his wife wasn't much better he always managed to smile. A kind and soft smile, showing a clear white toothy grin and small cheek dimples in his seemingly soft skin. You snap out of thought as the wooden door in front of you swings open.

Before you stands Mary, wine glass in hand, you sigh to yourself as you'd hoped for her partner to welcome you instead, but I suppose that's not what you're here for. She welcomes you inside to the regular spot in the sitting room, the old wooden coffee table is already set with revision guides and failed comprehension tests. The twins however, are nowhere to be seen. "Apologies," a gruff, tired voice echos from the kitchen doorway, "I'll be through with the twins in a moment, they're being rather stubborn." you nod and smile as you look over to the familiar sight of the taller blonde man, his hair somewhat scruffy and unkept today. He must be having a rough day, though this is no surprise, anyone would feel rough having to deal with the family he has, if you can even call it that.

A few minutes pass until the twins finally settle into the room, though their lifeless gaze implies they're never truly present. You can't help but feel intimidated by them regardless of the fact they're children. You scan through their work and attempt to discus it with them, asking where they may have struggled and what they did well, they don't respond and only stare blankly in your direction. Eventually the two of them rise from their seats and leave you in the sitting room, you let out a long sigh and bury your face into your hands, it made you feel as if you were failing, even though you knew nothing would ever get through to the two of them.

"It's alright." A calming deep voice calls from the chair next to you, it's their father, resting on the back of the armchair. You look to him and weakly smile, he didn't need to know your feelings, you're just here to do your job, though that doesn't seem to be working out. "I appreciate that you try." He states, offering a comforting grin, "Its the most anyone has ever done for those two besides myself, my wife is..." the older man trails off "rather absent, in their lives." you nod and look kindly to him. "I'm sorry to hear that." you somewhat mutter. Mr Christiansen shrugs it off and clears his throat. "It's quite alright, it's become the normal in my life." he lets out a sorrowful sigh and takes a seat beside you on the plush sofa. "Is there anything more I can do to help?" you subconsciously ask, not even realising your words until after you spoke them.

The stressed man hesitates for a second then shakes his head "No no it's okay," he starts "I'm fine really, you don't need to help." you sit up and look at him beside you. "But I want to," you explain "I can tell you're feeling the pressure if you don't mind me saying, I'd really like to help if you'd let me." you say softly with sympathy in your voice. He nods and his unkept blonde hair falls over his eyes. "Thank you (Y/N)," he begins to smile "I'll contact you if I'm in the need, thank you for wanting to be there for me." You wrap an arm around his shoulders, comfortingly resting your hand on his opposite arm. "It's no problem," you beam "I'm just across the street if needed." he nods again and cracks his neck, beginning to rise from his seat as your arm naturally falls away from him.

You too get up from your seat and clear your throat "Well," you pause "I'll see you next week for the twins tutoring." the father smiles and leads you to the door. "Sounds good, thank you (Y/N)." You return the smile and step out the doorway. "No problem Mr Christiansen." you say. He lets out aloe chuckle of a breath and his eyes meet yours. "Please," he begins "Call me Joseph." You nod as a subtle blush rises to your cheeks, turning to leave the property you notice him waving from his doorstop, you wave back and you make your way into your own home.
