The Yakshi and the Doctor

Chapter 14: The Preparations

Mahadevan started his preparations for driving mohini away, immediately on his arrival to wyanad. He was staying in a officers bungalow near to the hospital. On drawing the charts, he could sense that mohini couldn't be driven away or defeated by any of the traditional methods. Only scope available to him was to use either the doctor or rukmini to betray the yakshi. Mohini could be defeated only by using a completely good soul. Mahadevan studied the character profiles of both doctor and rukmini. It was clearly apparent that neither doctor or rukmini are going to easily help him in achieving his task. At first thought, mahadevan wanted to use the doctor to defeat mohini. It would be the easiest method if he could bring the doctor to his side. But that didn't seem a very plausible solution especially when the doctor didn't have any obligation to help him nor he could entice the doctor with any offers.

So he turned to the next available alternative in front of him. He had a plan in his mind. He would visit the hospital today and interact with both the doctor and rukmini. Subsequent to his meeting with doctor, he would try to bring rukmini to his side by the promise of safety to the doctor and complete destruction of evil yakshi. Afterall rukmini loved the doctor and love can make you to do strange things. 

With these thoughts in his mind, he went straight to meet the doctor as a courtesy call. After his assistant's apprised the doctor of Mahadevan arrival, the doctor immediately cleared his other appointments and set time aside for him. During the meeting, mahadevan informed the doctor of how he knew about his love for the yakshi and how he could help him in getting her forever. Startled by the statement, the doctor immediately asked the tantric what he ment. The tantric informed the doctor of how he knew all the thoughts and feelings of both the yakshi and the doctor. He further added that he could convert the yakshi in to a human under suitable conditions if the doctor helped him. This would end the terror of yakshi in wyanad and how the doctor could marry the yakshi as per his wish. The offer was definitely enticing to the mind of the doctor. His heart even asked him to accept the offer. But something didn't seem right to his mind. So he thanked Mahadevan for the offer and told him that his love is true.  Even if he couldn't have mohini as his wife, it was ok with him. After all not all love stories have happy endings and he was happy with his life and love. 

After the meeting ended, Mahadevan couldn't help but admire the nature of the doctor and his mental strength. He could tempt even the strongest minds with different strategies. But he couldn't move the mind if the doctor in the direction he wanted. He didn't feel bad though as he had already expected the outcome of the meeting and had already predicted that, it wouldn't give him the desired results. The person who is to give him the desired result, rukmini was his next appointment. 

Meanwhile, mohini who was watching the interaction between the doctor and Mahadevan was very pleased with the outcome. She was actually pretty afraid that the doctor might fall for tricks of Mahadevan and how she might have to destroy the doctor eventually. But with the mental strength, love, dedication and affection displayed by the doctor for her, even with many allurements offered by a mentally strong tantric pleased her greatly. She couldn't help herself but feel a greater level of admiration for the doctor. Afterall her choice of the doctor was perfect. Only if she had met him in life. She wondered.

But now her immediate worry was how to wade off a possible attack by Mahadevan using rukmini against her. Mohini had not had much interactions with rukmini. But she could really see that rukmini was a pure soul. She could also see that rukmini loved the doctor very much just like her. She also knew that the innocent doctor didn't know it though. In another time and space, mohini would have withdrawn herself and brought the doctor together with rukmini. They were perfect for one another. But she also knew that the doctor only loved her. She also reciprocated his feelings. But just her being the avenging angel and yakshi had altered all the dynamics. She also couldn't yet bring herself to let go of the doctor as she also loved him in his on way. But those were not her immediate thoughts. Her immediate worry was to avert the meeting between the tantric and rukmini as she feared the outcome of such meeting. She couldn't kill rukmini as she was a good person and that would result in her destruction if Mahadevan used rukmini against her.
