Chapter 1
I wake up groggily and examine my surroundings. Nothing looks familiar. None of what I am seeing makes any sense. I can't remember anything. Who am I? Where am I? Most importantly, what am I? My head snaps from side to side as I begin to hyperventilate.
Have there always been three moons? It must be night since everything is pitch black. Am I the only living being in this universe?
Ok, quit asking questions and figure out what you do know. First of all, I have a gorgeous cream fur from head to toe, but two legs and two arms. I have two cat ears, a long and fluffy cat tail, and the purple lake I sit beside reveals two blue slit-pupil cat eyes.
Secondly, I'm in a roofless cave that gives me a glorious view of the sky and I am lying on rocks beside a small purple lake.
Next, I know that... No, that's it. I don't know anything else.
"Oh, Abby, there you are. I have been looking all over this place for you" a girl says with a sigh as she enters the cave I lay in. She is like me, except her fur is black with white patches under her neck and on each paw. Her tail is also slimmer than mine and her eyes are yellow. I do finally have an answer, though. I am Abby.
"Um, should I know you? And what is 'this place?'" I ask.
She laughs, but seems to see the serious look on my face and abruptly stops. She cocks her head, "Don't you remember? I'm Priscila, but everyone calls me Prissy," she becomes sterner sounding as she continues talking, "This is Filinus and we are Felinites, cat-like aliens."
"What is Filinus?" I ask Priscila as she pulls me to my feet and begins to lead me out of my cave. Now that I am at full height, I realize that I am very tall and slim. We are both at least seven foot tall. I feel like a giant. Have I always been this tall?
"Filinus is the planet we live on. Did you hit your head or something? You know all of this already" she replies as we walk out onto a street. There are store doors lining each side of the street, but that's it. There are only doors, with nothing, not even caves, on the other side. I feel like there should be more, but I don't know what to them.
"Where are we going?" I inquire.
"To a mandatory meeting that the royals called" Prissy replies.
As we move along, I survey Filinus. It is a beautiful planet with pink dust under my feet and a green, pink, blue, purple, and orange sky filled with stars, and of course the three moons, above me.
She walks up to a door and a little bell dings as we enter. We are standing in a tiny area with four poles in front of us to slide down. They are simple green poles that just lead to a floor that I can see below us.
"Come along, Abby," Prissy says as she grabs a hold of one pole and slides down it.
I take a deep breath. I must have done this a thousand times before and just can't remember it. I swing onto the pole and as I first begin to descend, I am so terrified that I squeeze my eyes tightly shut. However, as the journey down continues, I start to giggle. It really isn't that bad.
"What took so long?" Prissy asks at the bottom. I just shrug and take in my new surroundings. The walls are made of the same rock as my cave, but the ground is above us, not the sky and three moons. There are at least thirty round tables, big enough to seat four at each one, laid out in front of us and filled with people.
The wall behind me has the poles, of course, and ladders that lead back up. To my left, purple water cascades into a spring where many Felinites are sipping water from. At the front of the room, a huge stage is set up with colorful spotlights trained on it. On the right, an endless corridor leads to who knows where.
