Chapter Five,
The Raging Storm
"Hello, base camp! Can anybody out there hear me? Base camp, this is T-Dog. Anybody hear me?" T-Dog was trying to contact the group back at the camp while everyone kept their eyes on the Sheriff and Glenn as they made their way through the walker-filled street.
Voice over the radio: -llo? Hel- Recept- bad-this end. Repeat. Re-
"Shane, is that you?" T-Dog asked. "We're in some deep shit. We're trapped in the department store. There are geeks all over the place. Hundreds of 'em. We're surrounded."
Voice over the radio: T-Dog, repe- last. Rep-
And then, the radio went off.
"Damn it," Chloe mumbled under her breath. The more time they spent in that stupid building, the harder it would be to find her parents, and it made her beyond agitated.
"Oh, man. It's just a cloudburst. We get 'em all the time. It'll pass real quick," Morales said, his eyes fixed on the sky that was slowly being filled with clouds. And of course, rain followed as Glenn and the Sheriff made a run for it.
"Come on, come on, come on," Morales muttered, his eyes never leaving the two guys on the street as they bashed their way through more and more walkers.
"They made it!" Chloe squealed as she watched the two succeed in climbing the fence and getting into one of the trucks before they drove away.
"They're leaving us," Andrea said in panic.
"What? What?" Merle said almost shouting. "Where they going? Where they going?"
"No, no, come back," Andrea said.
Chloe couldn't believe Glenn could do such a thing. He seemed like a good guy. Damn it, he risked going into that pharmacy with her a few hours ago with no complaints. How could he do such a thing to them now? "No, please!"
"Come on, we gotta find a way out," Morales said, leading the group downstairs into the loading dock in order to plan their escape while Dixon was still handcuffed on the roof.
"What about Merle?" Chloe asked.
"Hey, you can't leave me here! I'm not fooling, man! Morales! Hey, man! Don't do this!" Merle pleaded.
"Come on," Andrea said, pulling Jacqui with her.
"Hey, that's my gun. You can't leave me. Don't leave me here, you guys," Merle shouted.
"Morales, Chloe, come on," Andrea said, noticing the two standing along with T-Dog, their eyes trained on Merle.
"I'm coming! We've gotta go!" Morales said, knocking himself out of his daze before following Andrea and Jacqui downstairs.
"No, wait a sec!" Chloe said as everyone just left, leaving her with T-Dog and Merle.
"Morales! You can't leave me like this, man! Hey, Chloe, T-Dog. No, man. You can't leave me, man. You can't leave me here... Not like this. You can't, man. It's not human. Come on, don't do this," Merle pleaded.
"Give me the key, T. Come on, we can't just leave him here!" Chloe said, causing T-Dog to rush towards Merle.
"Come on, T. Come on! Come on, yeah! Yeah! Come on! Co... That's it! Yes! Come on, baby! Come on," Merle said as T-Dog ran towards him only to trip, causing the handcuff key to fall out of his hand and end up dropping down the drain.
"Son of a bitch! You did that on purpose!" Merle screamed.
"I didn't mean to!"
"You lie! You did it on purpose!"
