Chapter Twenty Five,
Circular As Our Way

ROAD TRIPS. They've always been my favourite. But now that we're constantly on the road moving from one place to another, I started to resent road trips.

It was exhausting.

We were stranded.

We had nowhere to go.

It started to look like finding a place to call home - like Rick had promised, was nothing, but a pipe dream.

Rick was not Rick anymore. He was scaring me. He got so impulsive.

"This isn't a democracy anymore."

He meant what he said.

I still thought of Logan, hoping he had made it out of that chaos back at the farm, even though Rick had told me multiple times that the RV was overrun. He saw it.

I also thought of my family. The more we moved and found new places, the more I felt like getting closer to them. To Alli.

I felt it.

Rick, T-Dog, Daryl, Chloe and Carl broke into a house taking down some walkers. Rick signalled for Chloe and Carl to follow him, while Daryl and T-Dog went their own way.

Rick entered a dark corridor as Chloe and Carl diverted into a room in which they took down two walkers.

Signalling for Carl to follow her, she made her way back to Rick who was standing in front of a door about to open it. The moment he did both Chloe and Rick held their weapons up high aiming at the silhouette that was on the other side of the door.

It was no one but Daryl who had a smirk on his face.

Daryl, T-Dog and Chloe went upstairs clearing the other rooms. Daryl signalled for Chloe to open the door of a room while he aimed at her.

No walkers.

They both saw an owl and Daryl.was ready to shoot it.

"No, leave it Daryl. Let me get it outside," Chloe said when she saw Daryl aiming his crossbow at the owl.

He shot it.

"Thank you so much," Chloe said sarcastically before going downstairs to find Glenn, Maggie, Carol and Beth had already carried the bags into the house.

After getting rid of the corpses they all settled in. Chloe sat next to Carl who brought two cans trying to open them. She was helping him when Rick snatched the can from her harshly. They both looked at him in shock as he threw it away angrily. Everyone was nervous around Rick.

Killing his best friend changed him.

T-Dog whistled signaling the arrival of walkers and everyone was on their feet in an instant packing their things silently before they ran into their parked cars.
