Chapter Forty Two,
You Should Have Kept Walking That Day"What are we gonna do now?" Chloe asked, realizing they didn't have a car anymore.
"We keep walking until it gets dark," Daryl who was leading the group said.
"We have to find a car, they can't wait until tomorrow," Tyreese said.
"Let's hope we'll find one," Michonne said.
And just like that, the next half an hour was spent in search of a running car, but to no avail.
"Nothing," Tyreese said as he tried to get one of the cars to work.
"It's getting dark," Daryl said.
"You think we can spend the night in that house? Try to get some sleep?" Michonne asked.
"Yeah, come on."
"Man I don't know, they're counting on us back at the prison," Tyreese said. He was worried, but so were Chloe and everyone else.
"We ain't gonna be much of a help if we lost our way," Daryl said.
Unlike their luck with finding a running car, they were able to find a house for the night. "Chloe, with me," Daryl said as everyone searched a room making sure the place was safe enough to stay at.
Daryl motioned for Chloe to open the door while he held his crossbow ready to shoot whatever was on the other side.
Nothing was in.
"All clear!" Tyreese called from the other room.
And Bob from another. "Same here!"
"We ain't got nothing here either," Daryl shouted back.
"Okay, it's all secure," Michonne said before lowering herself onto a couch, while Bob lay on the other.
"Stand up man," Tyreese told Bob motioning to Chloe, urging him to get off the couch.
"It's okay," Chloe told him.
"No, no I can sleep on the floor no worries," Bob said, as he finally got a hint of what Tyreese was trying to say.
"Thank you."
"We all stay in one room, anything happens we get goin'," Daryl said, placing a blanket that he found in one of the rooms on the floor before laying down.
The group managed to take a few hours of rest which got them fueled up for their next morning journey.
"This is Turner Creek, so Barnesville must be a few miles downstream," Michonne told the group. They were at the side of a river waiting for Tyreese to get done with cleaning his shirt.
"Sounds like our best chance at finding a new ride," Bob told them.
"Yo, Ty. Come on, let's go. Vámonos," Daryl said.
"Ty. Ty! There should be a town a few miles south," Bob said, trying to get Tyreese to move.
"Lost a whole night. My sister, everybody else-- they're probably dead," Tyreese called back.
"Well, it helps to keep moving," Bob told him.
"No, it doesn't."
All the luck in the world seemed to be running against them. They had yet to find another car, but just like all the others before it was dead too.
"We gotta find us a new battery," Daryl said. "Got some friends inside. Come on. Let's clear a path, see how many we got."
That got the group of five removing the vines from the walls of a garage trying to find an entrance. "Hey, man, go easy. We don't know what we're dealing with," Dary said noticing Tyreese being so aggressive. He was fed up already.
