A/N: The new fic is starting! I don't have the whole outline written yet, but I do want to start posting chapters! As I said at the end of Tarry Him, I originally wrote it a long time ago, so I don't know if I can promise such frequent updates for Summer Camp. We should still be careful in public, but I hope my fics can help you mentally transport into a more appealing world :)
Also, this fic is gonna be kinda spicy ngl
"I'm coming! Calm the fuck down!" You shouted in response to the obnoxious car honking heard in front of your home.
"Y/n, you really have to clear up your language," your mom scolds. "You're going to be around kids for most of the Summer."
"I know, but Jaehyun wouldn't stop honking," you groan, dropping a kiss on her cheek.
"You know I expect updates on how you're doing, right?" She asks.
"Mom, I'm 18. I promise I can survive without you knowing where I am."
"Fine. Just stay safe."
"I will," you promise, grabbing your suitcases. The honking continues. You send your mom an apologetic glance, running out.
He was standing there, leaned up against his car, blue jeans hugging his muscular legs.
"Finally. What the hell took so long, cupcake?" He asks, taking your suitcases to set in the backseat.
"It wasn't that long, you whineass," you groan, plopping into the passenger seat.
You heard his chuckle when he sat back behind the wheel.
"I was waiting out here for a solid 10 minutes," he put the car into drive.
You roll your eyes. "What an eternity. I wanted to make sure I had everything! We're gonna be away from home for a long time, you know."
"Yeah, yeah. Still." He turns the radio on and a free-spirited melody flew through the harsh wind as Jaehyun drives to the main road. Flipping down the mirror, you tried to manage your hair that was disheveled from the flurry.
Focused on the multiple strands that were obstructing your vision, you didn't notice Jaehyun who was glancing over at you with a small smile on his face.
He turned his gaze back to the road, the smile lingering on his lips. At times like this, he's really able to appreciate how perfect you are. It doesn't matter what you're doing. Going on your twelfth year of friendship, Jaehyun wouldn't be nearly the same person without you by his side.
He's never said it to your face because his cheeks and ears flush bright red that he just can't lie about. You know more about him than anyone else. At times, he thinks you know him better than he could ever know himself. When he had attempted to hide his frustration in the depths of his mind, you told him you were there. And you were. Always.
He was there for you through everything. When you felt down because the grade you got an assignment was disappointing. When you said the wrong answer causing some kids to laugh in class so you shrunk in your seat, not noticing the petrifying glares Jaehyun sent those classmates. They gulped, whipping their heads back to the whiteboards hanging at the front of the room.
When you finally get to the campgrounds, you look over at Jaehyun. His eyes were studying your lips. He whipped his head away from you, suddenly pretending that the trees outside his window were fascinating.
"Jae," you call out.
"What?" He answered in a whiny tone.
"You should really button up your shirt," you notify.
He glanced down, taking in the appearance of the top two buttons being undone. His chiseled, pale chest was exposed.
"What's wrong with it?"
You roll your eyes. "We're working with kids. They don't need to see down your shirt."
He looks over at you, feigning offense. "Why're you looking down my shirt?"
You groan with another eye roll. "Just button it up."
He does so, chuckling to himself. It's at moments like these when he remembers why he likes you more than anyone else. He knew you were meant to be together, he just had to find the right time to ask. His ears flush at the thought alone, going to the backseat to grab his stuff in hopes you won't notice.
Thankfully, you just take your bags out, shutting the car door after. It's the beginning of a new chapter in your lives. You'll start earning money, and hopefully, finally, be with the boy you've cherished forever.
A/N: Please vote if you guys are excited about this fic! The coming chapters will definitely be longer.
