Preparations
Walking up to the familiar grand sign, you take in a deep breath to appreciate the crisp and clean air. Jaehyun laughs at you, only to get an elbow in his gut as a response.
"I'm used to being in the city where it's all congested and polluted, okay? It's clean out here," you defend.
"I know," he answers with a laugh. You continue to walk ahead, noticing the same man that had worked there for years.
"Junmyeon!" You shout, running over to him with your arms spread open. You hug him tight, feeling a deep chuckle rumbled in his chest.
"Good to see you too, Y/n."
"Do you have a lot of the schedule written already?" Jaehyun asks from beside you.
Junmyeon nods, handing a small stack of papers stapled together to Jaehyun. "This is the first week's schedule and the general stuff that you need. I'd give you both a packet, but I think you only need one to share. You're together 24/7, basically." Junmyeon has witnessed the two of you grow up together.
You both turn pink, nodding. "Saving trees," you say with a nervous chuckle.
Junmyeon nods with a knowing smile. "The kids will be coming within the next hour. Have the parents fill out the healthcare form, alright?"
He leaves to talk with other staff. You jolt when you hear a car horn from behind, whipping around to see Momo, Soojin, and Jennie inside.
They hop out, attacking you in a bear hug. "I'm so happy it's summer again!" Jennie exclaimed.
"Right?!" You squeal, shaking her shoulders.
"Mo was saying how she only has one bathing suit, and I was thinking, we should definitely go shopping soon," Jennie added.
"Is it weird to only have one? I have one," you said, confused.
"It's fun to have options!" Soojin adds, siding with Jennie.
"I suppose so," you agree, shrugging.
Momo looks behind you, noticing Jaehyun uncomfortably standing around as you direct your focus towards your long time girlfriends. They start giggling, so you turn around to see his awkward facial expression.
"Jae, you okay?" You ask, giggling along with the girls.
"Hmm? O-oh yeah, I'm doing fine," he awkwardly chuckles.
You smile at him, hearing more cars pull in. "Go get the health forms from Junmyeon," you tell them, therefore you can get some of your own filled out. They nod, waving goodbye, on their way to find Junmyeon.
You smile at Jaehyun again. "Race you to get 10 signatures done."
He smirks, clicking his pen. "You're on," with that, he's gone to start.
"Yah!" You exclaim. "You're such a cheater," you grumble, running off to begin your own quest.
You see a girl who seems to be on the older side, maybe between 10 to 12. She's standing beside a middle-aged man. You go over to them, smiling warmly. "Hi! I'm Y/n," you offer the man a handshake, which he returns.
"Are you a camp counselor?" The man asks in a heavily accented tone.
You nod. "Yep," you look over to the girl again. "What's your name?"
"Jian, we are from China," she smiles, Korean also being quite rough.
"Can you read Korean well?" You ask the father.
"Might need help."
You nod, showing him the paper, explaining occasional parts that he was unaware of.
You move on to the next car, seeing a very young boy clinging to an older boy's leg. "Hyung, don't leave me," he whines, a tear falling out of his doe eyes, lip jutting out.
Your heart breaks at the terrified boy, walking over with an especially gentle smile. "Hello," you sit on your knees to be eye-to-eye with him.
"H-hi."
"Are you nervous?" You ask tenderly.
He nods, grip tightening on the older boy's shorts.
"I know it's scary to be away from home, but we have a lot of fun here, okay?" You smile. "We play games, swim, and many more things!"
"Really?" he asks, looking to feel a little bit better.
You nod. "We'll have fun, I promise."
"Okay, noona," he says with a small smile. He's obviously still a little bit nervous, but your words reassure him.
You lightly pinch his cheek, standing up to look at the elder. "Can you sign a health agreement sheet?"
He nods, taking the pen.
You checked your phone after 45 minutes, done with 10 signatures. The boy you had reassured, Seong Su, held your hand as you walked back into the common grounds.
"Seong Su, can I have my hand for a moment?" You ask, looking down at his soft head.
He nods, letting go. You fish your phone out of your pocket, texting Jaehyun.
The others introduced you to the kids they met.
Ami, who Momo met. She's 9 and loves to dance just like Momo.
Jaehyun had seen your mutual friends that had also gone to the camp throughout your childhood. Johnny, Yuta, and Lucas.
A young girl was staring up at Lucas with so much love. Lucas laughed like the dork he is, introducing her as Su Hyun.
Jaehyun showed a young boy, who proudly said his name, Rokunda. Ami had to clarify that they were indeed siblings, faces very similar.
After a couple of hours, you're going back to the cabins.
"Let's go shopping tomorrow night," Momo offers when you're all setting up your shared room.
You all nod in agreement.
"Sounds good to me," Soojin says.
A/N: I aimed to make this part longer in apology for the first chapter being short haha. Vote if you're enjoying it!
