A Rival?

"So Ushiwaka-kun. Are you gonna take (y/n)-chan on a date?"

Tendou and Ushijima were walking to lunch when the topic of you turned up.

"What do you mean?"

"Eh?! Your not gonna take your lady on a romantic date?!"

Tendou gave a look of disappointment to the ace.

"She's always been into that stuff. And it's her birthday this weekend."

When they made it to lunch the volleyball team was waiting at their usual table.

"Maybe I should take her somewhere...."

He continued to walk with his friend as they headed to class.

"See? She's always enjoyed going out but because of school she's never really had the chance."

Y/n POV

"(Y/n)-San!"

One of my juniors came up to me during lunch break and sat across from me.

"What do you need?"

She looks extremely nervous but looks to some of her friends behind her.

"We want you to play with us in the spring tournament!"

She yelled at me with determination in her voice.

"Why me? I mean there are plenty of other seniors who can help."

"No!"

She looked down at her feet.

"YOU WERE THE BEST PLAYER THE TEAM HAD EVER HAD!"

She looked back up to me.

"WE WANT YOU TO HAVE SOMETHING TO REMEMBER US BY!"

"Ummm"

She silently waited for an answer.

"Fine. But if you guys are just messing around then I'm not gonna play."

She looked at me with a bright smile on her face.

"Don't you worry!"

She hugged you and went to spread the news to the girls volleyball team.

"Man...I was gonna use that time to study for entrance exams."

"Hey isn't that (Y/n)-chan talking to that first year?"

The younger girl hugged (y/n) then ran off.

"I think so. Let's go talk to her."

(Y/n) turned around and made eye contact with Ushijima.

"Hey guys"

"What was that about (Y/n)-chan?"

Tendou put his arm around (y/n)

Just one of my Juniors asking me to play in the spring tournament.

"Wait so your playing in the spring tournament?"

Ushijima sat across from her.

"Yup! And hopefully they don't try to make me captain."

"Well I have to head to class. I need to have some extra time to study for a test."

Tendou walked away waving slowly at the two of you.

"(Y/n) would you like me to walk you home today?"

She looked at him with a light blush on her face.

"Umm sure! It is Friday."

He nodded then proceeded to get up and walk away.

"Love you..."

You muttered under your breath.

After school Ushijima came and picked you up form your class.

The two of you picked up some snacks from the vending machines and proceeded to walk the long route to your house.

"Hey (Y/n)?"

Ushijima broke the silence.

"Would you like to go on a date on Sunday?"

You stopped.

"Of course!"

You gave him a warm smile that not many have had the honor to see.

"It's my birthday that day so I don't think my parents would mind if I went out."

She continued walking.

CRASH

(Y/n) bumped into someone while turning the corner into her neighborhood.

"(Y/n)-chan! Are you ok?"

Ushijima knelt down to her level and check to see if she was hurt.

"Yes I'm fine..."

She got up and dusted herself off.

"You should really watch where you goin-"

She looked up at the person she bumped into.

"(Y/n)-chan?!"

"O-OIKAWA?"
