Mary's eyes opened as her whole body woke up, she yawned and smiled.
"Happy Birthday to me," Mary said quietly to herself. 152. She was 152. She smiled again and grabbed her silk robe and redid her hair into her infamous style, and strolled downstairs.
"Happy Birthday!" All her umbrellas and canes said.
She smiled sweetly.
"Thank you very much so," Mary said and nodded, and found a cake on her table. She stopped in her steps. She looked around, and didn't see anyone or anything. She gazed back to her umbrellas and canes. Her normal umbrella smiled at her.
"Do you know anything about this?" She smirked.
"It was... um...." It looked at the draw. Mary knew what was in that draw.
"No do not be silly, that simply isn't possible," She said responsibly. The umbrella rolled their eyes.
She made herself breakfast and looked at the cake, it was a simple cake, and had sprinkles ontop. She smiled once again.
"It's your birthday you're allowed Mary...." She cut the cake and smiled as she politely ate it. Just how she remembered. Her eyes gazed around the empty house, she let out a little sigh, it was days like this that she wished she had some company. She went to eat another slice.
"No, just one slice Mary..." She giggled to herself.
For the rest of the day, Mary found herself pottering around the house, a little bored. She went for a walk in the end, along the streets fall of cherry blossoms and took a minute to gaze up at the perfect sky. 152 years on Earth. Can you imagine that? As her mind said can you imagine that, she heard the tune in her head, and walked along the blossoms humming the tune.
"Too much glee leaves rings around the brain....." She sang quietly under her breath. Once again her mind started to fall into her huge imagination. She shook it off and walked back home, and as she took her coat off her shoulders, her phone rang. She smirked, a birthday call perhaps? She cutely ran to her landline and picked it up.
"Hello?"
"Hello Mary, It's cousin Topsy!" Topsy said across the line.
"Oh hello Topsy, how are you?"
"I'm very well I'm just calling to say that the Banks bowl is fixed....." She paused.
"And Happy Birthday!"
Mary smirked. "Thank you cousin" She said softly, and her heart felt a little warm that someone remembered.
"I'll come along tomorrow to pick it up, thank you ever so much, goodbye cousin," Mary said in her soothing tone.
"Bye Mary!" Topsy said excitedly and hung up.
Mary smiled again. Someone remembered! She heard her umbrella snigger and turned round.
"Everything alright?" She held her arms looking down on it. Her umbrella rolled their eyes.
"You're so soppy, and soft no one would think you would be" It smiled a little.
She nodded. "I know, I hide how soft and delicate I am, silly Mary..." She smiled again and then put some water on the stove to boil.
A few hours later
She sighed.
"What do I do," Mary said to herself. She saw her bag, and grabbed it seeing if anything in there could entertain her till she got tired. Reaching in, she pulled out the magic bubbles, a long dress, a beach umbrella and a book. She gazed over all of them and looked back at the beach umbrella. She grabbed it excitedly and twirled it around, she closed her eyes and appeared at a perfect beach. She was in a swim suit, and put some sunglasses on, as she laid back on the towel, a yawn escaped her. There was always a positive to being Mary Poppins, even if you're alone. She could go anywhere from the comfort of... well anywhere. So spending her birthday on a white sandy beach surrounded by palm trees and a clear ocean. She fell asleep as the sound of the waves travelled into her ears.
A few hours later, she woke. In her bed. She sighed, completely forgetting if you get hurt or fall asleep in a world you go back to reality. So here she was, neatly tucked into bed. A yawn escaped Mary's mouth, she fell back into sleep, excited to pay a visit to Cousin Topsy's tomorrow.
