The next morning, Mary was still in a bit of panic from her nightmare, as she wrapped a silk robe around her delicate figure. She strolled downstairs, and as she made her way to the kitchen spotted a familiar face adjusting the lamplight. It was Jack. Of course it was. Mary was not even dressed in her normal wear, but before she could even hide from him he saw her. Jack did that killer smile and lifted his hat slightly, gesturing a hello.
Mary went to the door and opened it, she smiled and held her arms a little embarrassed as she stood in her silk robe.
"Good morning Mary, how are you?" Jack said again, with that same big smile.
"I'm perfectly fine thank you, how are you?"
"I'm good yes, thank you" Jack smirked.
"How are you and Jane, well I hope?" Mary said a little shakily, not really wanting them to be well.
"Well, we're no more, but I still sometimes take the Banks for a bike ride." Jack said a little solemnly but the thought of the Banks and Mary made him smile again. Mary smiled hearing that they were no more, and almost giggled in her relief. She adjusted her robe.
"I'm sorry if I caught you off guard as you woke, I can be gone in a flash-" Jack said nervously. Mary shook her head.
"Come in for a cup of tea, you look a little sleepy," Mary said softly and calmly. Jack almost relaxed seeing that soft smile brushed across Mary's face as she strolled in with her arms holding one another as they usually did.
Jack followed in, not really knowing what to expect but he knew how jealous all the lamplighters would be right now. He was greeted by the sight of canes and the umbrella chatting away, and smiled giggling a little. The house was beautiful inside, just as he imagined, everything was perfectly placed and clean, he poked his head round and saw the perfect kitchen, as Mary poured two cups of tea very gently, and beside her two cups were chatting and so was the teapot. Of course it was, this was Mary Poppins' house. He smiled again and found a seat on the sofa, he almost got sucked into it due to how soft and comfy it was. Mary sat on the sofa beside him, and delicately laid two cups in-front of them. Jack smiled.
"Thank you" He smirked.
"How are you dealing after Jane? You've got a house and you're safe?" Mary looked at him concerned.
"Yes I've moved back in with Angus, so i'm all safe, thanks" Jack smiled as he said it, feeling complimented that she cared so dearly for everyone she came across.
After both of them finishes their tea, Jack didn't want to leave. He gulped and took a chance.
"Would you like to come on a walk or bike ride with me?" He said nervously and looked down.
She smiled. "I'd love to, i'll just get ready," Mary leapt up and went upstairs to get changed, and came down in her blue coat and usual attire, he saw and blushed seeing, and grabbed her umbrella for her.
"Hands off!" The umbrella snapped.
"Oh that's so rude don't speak like that," Mary said sharply as she took it from Jacks hand. Jack just giggled, and Mary locked the door. Soon enough Jack helped Mary sit in-front of Jack and he put his arms round her as he put his hands on the handrail.
"Where do you want to go?" Mary said curiously.
"I have a place...." Jack smiled as he turned the corner and cycled through the most of London, and say Mary observing the city as he went through it. He came across a little opening in a bunch of cherry blossoms, and Mary saw as they stopped by it. Mary smiled, cherry blossoms. Her favourite. Jack strolled into the pathway and Mary followed, all the trees were so close to one another it made a sheltered path and a branch hit Jack's arm. And magically, at the end of the path, was a circular opening surrounded by the trees. Mary gasped. All you could see was blossoms and hedges, and some little slits of the sunlight coming through. Jack sat down and Mary joined him, and Jack slowly wrapped his arm round her, as she slowly leaned into him. She felt safe, for the first time in a while, and smiled as she did.
A hour or so went by as they still cuddled feeling closer as the blossoms flew around them. Jack felt so safe with her. Mary felt so safe with him. Soon enough Jack took Mary home.
"I really enjoyed today," Jack said blushing. Mary nodded and let out a smile.
"Me too, would y-"
"JACK! JACK! COME ON WE'VE GOT THE BIKE RALLY!" Angus appeared shouting. Jack gulped and nodded. Mary smiled weakly.
"I'll see you soon Mary Pop Pop" Jack said and winked, lifting his hat to gesture a goodbye. Mary giggled and wandered inside. She smiled again feeling her cheeks go rosy and warm. She finally was in love.
