Next morning,
Khushi had switched off his alarm as it had been a really tough day yesterday and she was sure he would have slept much later in night battling negative thoughts. But a well fed and freshly bathed Aarav was roaming here and there impatiently. He wanted to water his plants and Daddy was sleeping even at 10 in the morning. He wasn't ill, his Mumma had told.
"Mumma...", he whispered in her ears again wanting to know when Arnav 'll get up. Khushi closed her books and decided to distract him with TV.
"Aloo let him sleep for fifteen more minutes, uske baad utha dena (you can wake him up then). Come we 'll watch shinchan"
"Papa awaaz se uth jayenge na?", he was reluctant to watch TV. ("Papa 'll be eget disturbed with TV sound")
"Nana-Nani ke room mein chal kar dekhte hain or we can play in toy room?"("Let's go watch it in your grandparents room or we can play in toy room")
"Naah! Mumma when 'll Daddy wake up? Fifteen minutes to ho bhi gaye(fifteen minutes are already over)!", Aarav was restless just after five minutes.
"Aarav!", Khushi warned him futilely, he was already on bed. She shook her head at his adamancy. Arnav has pampered him just too much.
"Papa wakey-wakey!!", Aarav patted Arnav awake. Arnav woke up when Aarav bit his chin. He pulled him close and planted a kiss on his chubby cheek, smiling at his munchkin, "Good morning sweetheart"
"Papa me Aloo not Mumma", Aarav teased him, he has heard Daddy calling Mumma with that name many times. Arnav kissed his other cheek too, pulling him inside the blanket. "I know. You are my sweetheart not your Mumma!" "Thankyou Papa!", Aloo kissed him back and both stared at a jealous Khushi, They started laughing at her angry puffed up face. "Come, join in Baby", Arnav gestured her to come to bed in his titillating voice. Aarav giggled hearing 'baby'. Khushi glared at him and went away to her study, fuming at his audacity to behave so brazenly in front of Aarav, "Besharam Aadmi"("Shameless man"). She's so stupid, thinking he would be all morose after their yesterday fight. He was back to being sassy!
Twenty minutes later, father-son were at poolside laughing and braying, "Aaj Sunday nahi hai suhana, Aloo ki Mummy ko hai manana..."("This Sunday is not lovely, I have please Aloo's Mummy) "What the! What the! What the!", Aloo supplied as Arnav helped him with sprinkler can. This song was their favorite.
Arshi went for their monthly checkup in the afternoon. This was twentieth week(mid December), ideal for 3D ultrasound both abdominal and vaginal to check for structural abnormalities, position of placenta, cervix length, amniotic fluid etc. Doctor told them if lucky they could even observe the hiccups in the foetus. As the transducer moved over her belly, their excitement increased manifolds to see the face of their baby. But baby was not as eager as them. She settled into a cozy position that made it hard for the Doc to get positions she needed for examination. Shy baby had covered her frontal body with hands on face and legs folded into her stomach. Doc prodded Khushi's belly but couldn't coax her to shift into a better spot.[Yeah Doc knew, it was a girl. Parents prohibited in Indian law]. She asked them to walk around no use, drink more water no use, eat something, preferably glucose. Finally it worked. Baby had removed hands from her face finally making her parents giddy with excitement, relieving Doc who now made the observations. Her size, heartbeats everything else was fine.
