When Iris's father dies, her mother decides to move her and her sister Jasmine all the way to the other side of the country. For her last year of high school, Iris will be attending West Rose Academy— a school known for its drama and extensive list of attractive boys.
Sound familiar?
Iris doesn't want to draw attention to herself, but for a different reason than most: she knows that she's the main character of a cliché teen fiction, and she doesn't want to adhere to the plot laid down for her. Too bad that by her first day there, she already has one not-like-other-girls best friend, three mean girls, and six very hot but very generic boys on her back.
Unsatisfied with the way her life is predetermined, she sets off to derail her author's plans by avoiding her love interests and spreading awareness about the fourth wall, all while gaining a few unexpected allies along the way.
With Iris as the main character, clichés just got a lot more unpredictable.
