Chapter Nine: Video Tape

"It's all over the papers." Jieun's cold voice rang through Jisoo's ear.

Jisoo was in her office, looking at the story which made front cover.

Some idiot had video-taped the whole thing and uploaded it on almost every social media outlet. It was being circulated, and re-circulated, tweeted and re-tweeted.

Even found itself on the front page of The Newsasian and mention in other nationals and internationals. It was as if there was no other news in the whole world.

"I am looking at it." Jisoo said.

"What were you thinking?"

"That I wanted to break his face?"

Jisoo could her grandmother pursing her lips contemptuously.

"Do you know who he was?"

"I know now." Jisoo said.

Some random oil cartel's son. She could not care less even if she wanted to.

"Do you know what will happen now?"

"We'll lose His Highnesses loyal patronage?"

There was a long silence on the phone.

"Now listen to me, Sooya. This is what you will do. You are publically going to apologize and-"

Jisoo clicked the phone off and tossed it on the table. She decided to wait for people's reactions before taking any damage control steps.

Few hours later, the head of her PR department came around.

The prerequisite knock and then she was walking inside the immaculate office.

"Chaerin." Jisoo said glancing from her computer screen.

"CEO Kim," the older woman sat down on the seat, and got right down to business, "What do you want us to do? We could track the person who video-taped it."

Jisoo leaned back, wonderingly, "What's the social media reaction?"

Chaerin's smile relieved her. In some way, Jisoo had been terribly apprehensive about the outcome.

"They love it. They absolutely love it." Chaerin said taking out a folded paper from her bag, "Here" she said, "We printed some of the best responses."

Jisoo scanned the paper, almost amused. This turned out to be like an unexpected publicity stunt.

"People feel that the man deserved it. They are cheering for you. Celebrities have spoken out in defence - you have already hit a million hits overnight on YouTube and dozens of well - wishers."

There was a slight smile on Jisoo's face.

"But I still want the video off YouTube." Jisoo said returning the paper.

"We'll do it by tomorrow. Since this is a positive reaction, and it's good publicity, I recommend letting it stay for another couple of hours."

"I never knew hitting a person was good publicity." Jisoo remarked.

"The internet community is stronger than we realize."

Jisoo nodded thoughtfully.

"But you will have to eventually give a statement. And you will have to get used to interviews bringing it up."

"That's okay. But what about the statement?"

Chaerin paused, "It is unnecessary for an interview. I would suggest tweeting about it from your official account, and - er - sound remorseful but at the same time, you want people to know that - the man deserved it. It'll have to be balanced."
