When Jennie stepped out of the lift, she did not expect her mother to be sitting next to her door, back resting against the wall, and sipping what was probably a frappe from a sippy cup.
Played Song:
Seeing Red
(Danny Elfman)"Hello, darling!" Jessica smiled, "How gorgeous you look."
Jennie was in Jisoo's shorts and shirt, barefoot, hair mussed up and thrown in a knot, and her dress and shoes packed in the Promode carrier.
"Went somewhere last night?"
"Oh this small, small house, it's been so long." Jessica said looking around the studio, "Are you still sure you don't want your father's offer for a nice chic Parisian apartment?"
"I am sure."
Her mother, Jessica Kim was still very much the New York socialite her father married with her solid accent and verbiage.
"But you like the car, don't you?" Jessica said as she sat on the edge of the sofa chair, "Oh you do have a very unfortunate view. I can't see the view."
"Why are you here?" Jennie asked as she placed the packet on the ground.
"I'll tell you but go clean up please. I don't want to smell another woman on my daughter."
Jennie went inside the bathroom, and took a quick, cold shower. She folded Jisoo's clothes, kept them by the side, and slipped into a pair of jeans and a shirt.
When she came out, her mother was still sitting there, quite uncomfortably at the edge. She went over and sat down on the other chair.
Jessica smiled approvingly, "There, far better."
"So?"
"Okay, so first, tell me how you've been," she said, "You know how much I miss you. I could never understand why you moved away from New York."
"It was gaudy."
"Gaudy? I'll be offended, Jennie." Jessica said.
"Well, I have been working mostly and uh," Jennie wondered if she should tell her about Jisoo, "I was chosen to re-do the Kcorp suites, this time for their-"
"The Kcorp, that disgusting, power - hungry, filthy rich family, you mean?"
"Disgusting, not so much." Jennie said, "Why would you-"
"-nothing, just don't like them. Stay away from them Jennie. They're not nice people."
"Mom?" Jennie frowned. She had rarely heard her mother consciously indulging to hate someone.
"Well, Minho called yesterday, and he said that-"
"Mom!" Jennie stood up.
"No, No, darling sit down. He just said, or you know, mentioned that you were there, and you danced with that cold, frosty-"
"Yes, I danced with her."
"Of course you did. I was worried, so I flew in today-"
"You flew in all the way from New York because I danced with someone?"
"No. I was up in London for the Queen's-"
"That's absolutely silly."
"Jennie you have a bad habit of interrupting people."
"Fine, sorry."
Her mother stood up and placed an arm on her, "Darling, I hope she wasn't the woman you went home with last night."
