"I would be sad if you go to jail," There was not a note of sadness in V's voice as he riffled through a book, turning the pages, going back and again turning them in a non-stop motion.

Jisoo did not respond. She was already down two glasses of wine, and she was calmly sipping her third one.

The two cousins had locked themselves in the study while the rest of the family was downstairs in the living space, enjoying each other's silence.

They had just finished the most terrible family dinner date with Jieun throwing her glass at Eunwoo and Eunwoo retaliating with his plate.

Eunwoo was out of the house in a matter of seconds, although truth to be told, it was not really his fault.

"I'll sell off my shares before I go to jail."

V smiled, but it was not friendly, "Nice thinking. But it's not going to affect her."

"Then she'll be your problem." Jisoo said, "Leave the book alone."

V snapped it shut and tossed it towards the small table in front of them. It landed with a small thud.

"That is also unfortunately the reason why I want you around." V said.

The statement made her smile, "That's the reason why everyone wants me around."

"Are they planning to file the suit?"

"They've definitely threatened me. The lawyers say there's a slim chance that the case will stand."

"Why can't we make the phantom bidders disappear?"

"Grandmother's already done that."

"No, I meant kill them or something. Dump them into the Pacific so that there is never a chance that they will resurface."

Jisoo went quiet, almost as if toying with the idea.

"Don't say that in front of her."

They both laughed for a moment.

"How did she even find these people?"

V thought in wonder.

"The phantom bidders?"

V nodded.

"I wonder too."

"I still don't get the whole picture. What was with that property, anyway? Why was she-?"

Jisoo sighed, staring ahead at the modern painting hung on the wall, "I don't think it's the property. It might be the man."

"Jiyong Kim?"

Jisoo nodded, "She won't spill the facts but I think that Bae Suzy and he had some property dispute some hundred years back."

"She holds the grudge." V stated.

"And besides he was very vocal about wanting to demolish it. And it was one of the first Kcorp resorts in the Americas. Perhaps it was a sentimental reason."

"She and sentimental - I don't think they go together."

There was a small pause.

"You should have called off the auction when she told you."

"Well, it is my fault." Jisoo said ruefully, and then, "The property's just dead weight on us."

V took a swig from the wine bottle.
