Chapter 8 - Confusion
“Sasuke, I’m in point b,” he said through the wireless headpiece.
“Sakura, I’m in point c,” she spoke.
“Himitsu. I-”
“Naruto, I’m at point a, believe it!” I smacked my head a couple of times to get the ringing out of my ears.
“You’re slow, Naruto. Why did you interrupt Himitsu?” Kakashi-sensei asked.
“I did? I’m sorry Himitsu! Believe it!”
“It’s okay Naruto.”
“Okay, squad seven,” sensei said, “the target has moved!”
“Wha-” my body hit the floor with a loud thump, as Tora, our target, jumped on me. “Target…” I shook my head a couple of times, and continued wheezily, “captured. He has a red ribbon on his left ear.”
“Right. Lost pet Tora captured. Mission accomplished.”
“CAN’T WE GET A BETTER MISSION THAN THIS? I HATE CATS!” Naruto screamed through the earpiece.
“Ugh…” I stumbled along to the Hokage’s office, along with my team, who just walked. It’s not like they were the one’s pounced on by the cat.
“Oh! My poor little Tora. Mommy was so worried about you my little fuzzykins yes!” The land of fire’s Daimyo’s wife exclaimed, squishing Tora. Tora was whining, and had tears streaming down his face. No wonder he escapes so often….
“No wonder he ran away,” Sakura voiced out my thoughts.
“Now then. For squad seven’s next mission, we had several available tasks. Huh. Among them babysitting the chief counciler’s three year old, helping his wife to do the shopping, digging up potatoes, and uh-”
“Nooooo! I want to go on a real mission! Something challenging and exciting! Not this little kid stuff! Come on old man!” Naruto said, putting his hands in X-formation.
“Naruto! You need to learn how to stop cutting off people’s sentence! First me, and no the Hokage? What’s gotten into you?” I say. The room was silent, as everyone stared at me. “Um… carry on!”
Everyone pretended I didn’t say anything. Iruka shouted, “How dare you! You’re just a new genin with no experience! Like everyone else you start with simple missions to develop your skills and prove yourself!”
“Are you serious? Babysitting’s not a mission, it’s a stupid-” he was cut off by Kakashi-sensei hitting his head, like a hammer. Naruto fell.
“Will you put a lid on it?” he asks.
“Himitsu!” the Hokage called out.
“Yes?” I asked alert, hiding a concealed rage.
“Please leave the room for a moment or two. I will call you back in.”
“Understood.”
I stood outside the door, and watched as someone passed me. “Hello?” I asked.
“What do you want?” he asked rudely.
“I was wondering if you were lost, since you don’t look like a resident of Konoha.”
“I’m fine,” he huffed out. “I don’t need any help from a snot-nosed brat like you.”
“Excuse me? You’re in our village, and you treat us like garbage? That’s low,” I said, thoroughly disappointed.
“I don’t need any talks from a preschooler.”
“I’m thirteen, yet I’m more mature than you. Think before you act. It will get you far in life.”
Before he could retort, a guard signaled him to come in, so I was left to my lonesome. Before long, my team, and that man, passed me, and sensei told me to go in. He gave me a sad look, which put me on edge.
I pushed the heavy door open, and the Hokage stared at me. “Himitsu?”
“Um… y-yes?” I asked, stuttering.
“You are temporarily being relocated to squad 10, until further notice.”
“...what?” I asked, disbelievingly. Oh no…
