Kasumi Yamato POV :

I silently opened the door. I smiled. There was my prey. Sleeping peacefully. No idea of what was going to befall her. I crept towards her and jumped on her........

Only to find some pillows covered with a blanket.

"I am already awake Kasumi and I am already dressed. Now get up from my bed and come have breakfast with me. "

The person who said that was Anzu. It has been seven years since we first met, and my family has practically adopted her.
She had grown a lot in those seven years. She has a gentle and cute face. She has still kept her black hair short, but clean and her blue eyes still had that glow.

Even I have grown a lot. I am definitely taller than most twelve year olds and have a better endurance and power. Just wait till I turn thirteen. Its in my genes to grow up beautiful. Hehehehe~

My dark blue hair was tied into a ponytail and my green glowing eyes was still the same. Anzu and I grew so close during those few years she stayed here, that we are practically sisters. We know everything about each other. She is someone, I can show my true self to and I know all about her past.

I wanted to help her find her family. She is quite a sweet girl and she deserves all the happiness in the world. I still get jealous about her real family. I didn't want to lose my sister-like-friend when she finds her actual family. But I push my feelings back because I want her to be happy.

To accomplish this goal we decided to become Hunters. And today was the day, we are going going to take the exam.

"I wanted to surprise you and wake you up." I told her as I pouted.

She laughed and we both made our way downstairs to the dinner table.

As we sat down, my father, who is a Contract Hunter, asked us, "So? Are you girls excited? I still remember my first Hunter Exam. I didn't pass the first time but the second time. Normally, rookies do not pass the first time. So if you two do not pass this first time around, don't be disheartened. There is always next time."

Anzu smiled and answered, "Thank you Uncle. We will keep that in mind."

I frowned internally. No matter how many times my mom and dad told Anzu to call them 'Mother' and 'Father', she always refused. I push back my thoughts and asked, "How are we going to get to Zaban City? I know the exam is going to take place at Zaban City but I don't know where."

Dad chuckled and said, "Go to the big Cedar tree at the top of that mountain." He pointed at the a direction. "There are some navigators who live there, who will take you to the examination site. "

I thanked him. Mom set down our food on the table and said, "Enough. No more talk about Hunters in the breakfast table. My two little girls are leaving me today and I want to spend time with them as long as I can."

Anzu and I smiled and my Father laughed.

After eating breakfast we soon set out.

Anzu suddenly asked me, "How will we get to the Cedar tree on top of the mountain? "

"There is a path that Dad told me about. There is an alleyway in the nearby town which leads to that Cedar tree. Apparently we have to pass some sort of test to get there."
I told her.

"A test? Is it also a part of the Hunter Exam? " Anzu asked.

"I have no idea. Dad did not tell me everything. Something about secrecy or something. " I furrowed my eyebrows.

After a few minutes we reached the nearby town. We were looking for the alleyway when suddenly Anzu pointed at something. Or should I say someone?
