Chapter 3: First Phase x New Meetings

Kasumi Yamato POV:

We are finally going to the exam site! Yay! We passed! When the Kirikos were talking about the other group, I remembered that the old lady from before was also talking about some group. Who were these people? Are they really that great?

We finally reached Zaban City after a few hours. It was hustling and bustling with vehicles and people. We were dropped on front of a large building. Anzu and I stared at it awed. It was awesome! I gulped on anticipation when the wife -who I now know is the sister- said,

"Where are you going? The exam site is here."

Anzu and I looked away from the building to see that pink haired woman pointing at a gohan.

Anzu sweat dropped and said, "You are kidding,right?"

That woman smiled brightly and said, "Nope!"

We entered the gohan and the chef greeted us.

The woman said, "Is the back room available?"

The cook looked sharply towards us and said, "What will you be having?"

The navigator smiled and said, "The steak combo. The one that will make us see the light. For two people."

The chef pointed towards the back room.

When we reached the room, the navigator said, "I will be leaving you two now. Good luck on the Exam!"

Anzu smiled brightly and said, " Thank you for helping us!"

The navigator smiled and closed the door. Anzu and I sat down when the room began to move!

"The room is an elevator!" Anzu exclaimed.

I was shaking and my hands were sweaty with excitement. We are so close to the Exam.

The floor reached 100 when the door opened. Anzu and I came outside to find a tunnel like place and every person staring at us. Anzu shuffled a bit, under their stares. Noticing her discomfort, I shot my own glare at the people staring, and they quickly averted their gaze. At least they know who is stronger.

Suddenly a bean shaped head guy came towards us and handed us our badge numbers. I was number 406 while Anzu was 407.

We looked at each other and smiled. We were finally at the Hunter Exam!

Suddenly, a fat guy approached us smiling.

"Hi guys. My name is Tonpa. Nice to meet you." He said while extending his hand.

Anzu shook his hand and said, "My name is Anzu Momoki."

I looked at that guy warily and said, "Kasumi Yamato."

The guy laughed and said, "Are you guys rookies? I have never seen you here before. And I have already taken this test thirty-five times!"

Anzu and my eyes widened as our jaws dropped. Thirty-five times??!!!
If nothing else, this guy was at least determined. I mean, if I couldn't pass in my third try, I doubt I would have ever taken this exam again!

Tonpa then smiled and handed us two cans of juice. He held one himself and said, "The Hunter Exam is hard and mentally exhausting. You need to have friends to survive. So, let's toast to our new friendship."

I smiled. Growing up in a rich family means attending parties with rich people. Which meant being in a room where every word being said is a double edged sword. So, I understood that Tonpa was a lying fat rat.

Anzu was now glaring at Tonpa. She grew up in the streets for the first few years of her life. Like hell, she will trust someone so easily.

I opened the juice can and promptly threw it on Tonpa's face. He yelped loudly in surprise.

Due to his loud shout, everyone was looking at us.

'How annoying. That lying rat had to draw attention to us. I really want to destroy him.' I thought in annoyance.

He glared at me and yelled, "What was that for?!"

I smiled at him sweetly. Then giggled and said, "I just don't like you. I mean, I sort of have an allergic reaction to lying rats."

Anzu covered her mouth and laughed quietly.

The people around us were either laughing or staring in shock. I noticed someone with pink hair staring at him. He looked like a clown. A very handsome clown with a creepy smile. I shivered in disgust. I looked away from that guy.

Anzu took her juice and handed it back to Tonpa.

I sighed mentally. She is always too kind to her enemies. Unless she is angry or she hates you. Trust me. You do not want to see an angry Anzu. I have seen it once and have no wish to see it again. I love my life, thank you very much.

Tonpa cursed and went away. I think I heard him murmuring something like, "What's wrong with this year's rookie?"

"The way you handled that was so cool!"

A boy, who looked to be of my age, came ran towards.

I stared at that boy. More specifically, I was staring at his hair. It was so spiky. What did he use to stick it up like that?! He looked like a porcupine.

"Who are you?" Anzu smiled at him.

"I am Gon!" The boy smiled. Then he pointed towards his companions and said, "That is Kurapika and that is Leorio!"

I looked at the 'Kurapika' guy. He seemed strong. The 'Leorio' guy was not that impressive. He seemed quite weak. But he made it this far. There must be something interesting about him.

"My name is Anzu." Anzu smiled at them.

"The name's Kasumi!" I said with a small smile. "Can I ask you something?"

Gon looked confused then he tilted his head like a puppy. He then smiled and said, "Sure!"

I again took a look at his hair and said, "What do you use to make your hair that spiky?"

That 'Kurapika' guy smiled and that 'Leorio' guy laughed.

Gon again looked confused and then said, "I was born like this."

Seriously? I sweat dropped. I wonder whose genes were those. Gon seemed quite strong despite everything. The aura around him was quite powerful.

I smiled at them brightly and then said, "Let's be friends!"

Gon smiled brightly and agreed. Leorio tried to pat my head but I smacked it away. Kurapika gave a small smile and nodded. Then he turned to Anzu and said, "If you do not mind me asking, can I ask what your age is?"

Anzu smiled at him and said, "I don't mind. I am sixteen while Kasumi is twelve."

Gon shouted, "Woah! Kasumi! We are the same age!"

Kurapika nodded at Anzu and said, "You are only a year younger than me, huh? You are tall for someone of your age. Almost the same height as me."

Anzu said nothing but just smiled at him.

Suddenly someone appeared from the other side of the tunnel. He had purple hair, a moustache and NO MOUTH!!!!

I stared at that man's face.

"My name is Satoz. It is my duty to guide you all to the second phase. Now, all of you follow me."

Then he turned around and started walking with his freakishly long legs.

How in the world is that guy talking. His moustache moved! How in the world is it possible. I think my eyesight detoriated. Nobody else seemed bothered by it. Am I the only one who is bothered about it? Or am I the only one who cannot see it? Even Anzu seemed normal. I stared at the man walking in front of with a small frown.

"I forgot to tell you all. The first phase of the Hunter exam has already begun. This is the first phase and I am your Examiner, Satoz." That man said.

With that, the official first phase of the exam began. The adventure is just starting!
