«Byakuya Togami's perspective»
I thumb through the books, slightly disturbed; all these books are ones I enjoy, like they've been specifically selected. The mastermind behind all of this must know more than we think.
I hear footsteps behind me.
I almost jump out of my skin- but it's just Makoto Naegi. I can't believe the sound of footsteps scared me, but the thought of being watched constantly makes me increasingly jumpy.
"Hey Byakuya!" Exclaims Makoto, standing beside me. I cross my arms haughtily.
"Hello, Makoto."
"Uhh, did you know Toko's outside watching you?" He mutters awkwardly.
"I'm aware." I lie. Toko's obsession is becoming increasingly disturbing, and for a moment I worry I might be the next victim- then I remember the gun I have in my room. After two kidnapping attempts I learnt to always have one on hand.
Suddenly, the door opens.
Celestia Ludenberg saunters in, joining us. She peers at the books.
"Do either of you know anything about Genocide Jack?"
"What, that serial killer that was on the news?" Makoto exclaims, "Why?"
"I'm just curious." She smiles, cocking her head to the right. Her eyes flick to her pocket and she hurriedly stuffs an envelope further into her pocket. I catch a glimpse of the title: secrets. My blood runs cold- does she know? I've tried so hard to hide the truth...
"I found something." I blurt out. I walk over to the wall and pull the bookcase out. It reveals another room, full of black books. Case files.
She wanders in and selects the case file, skims it, and places it back.
"Perfect!" She beams, and goes to leave.
My heart still pounds. If anyone finds out... I've failed.
