The dimly lit room resembled a fancy spacious cage, the air around it was stifling and simply too thick to not notice. Photos were splayed on the carpeted floor and Sarah sat with her legs awkwardly bent backwards, looking at each of the photos on the ground. Vincent's hair was perfect in each. His smiles, albeit fake, were pleasing to the eye. Sarah smiled sadly as she looked at the pictures they had taken merely for show and a good show they put on. They were very bright, currently too bright in the room filled with heavy gloom.
How guilt can consume someone so much so, they practically breath it, was sprawled on the plush carpet. Her body odour exuded guilt, it's like her very skin was made out of guilt. Everything accused her of a crime she now thinks she has committed. The mind in all it's powerful ability to manifest thoughts till they appear like facts was hard at work. Sarah was living in her head, in a ring of guilt with her as an opponent against it. Currently she was bloodied and bruised on the ring floor, her will to fight almost none existent.
Tears slid down her sunken in cheeks rapidly, hot and angry. Her head found the edge of the bed and rested against it. She was tired, too tired of feeling this way. It ate at her and if her weight loss was anything to go by , she was well on her way of becoming "all bones and no meat". Her neck was sunken in, much like her once healthy cheeks. Her eyes adopted dark circles around them, making her appear extremely unstable. She couldn't remember the last time she washed her hair, it was a horror movie playing on top of her head. She was practically a living nightmare.

Sarah was downstairs after thirty minutes, playing with the belt of her sleeping gown unconsciously. The whole family was sitting on the dining table with Grandma Tutu next to Madison and her mother next to her. "So why did you call us here?" Sarah looked up slowly and flashed them her horror like state, watching as pity danced in their eyes. The pity was like a stab to the heart, it forced her gaze down sharply. She sighed and tried to gather the thoughts she had decided on when the hot and angry tears stopped rolling. She knew what she had to do, it was the right thing for her to do.The words were at the back of her throat but they refused to come out of her mouth. Her grandmother sighed and placed her hands on the table loudly "Sarah, speak up!" It was her time to sigh now and shut her eyes tightly. Vincent's face decided right then to pop up in her brain, she released a pained breath slowly and opened her eyes. "I....uhm... I..." Encourage patience shone in their eyes, even in their silence. "It's okay, you can tell us anything!" Madison's voice was soft, as if she was addressing a child.
Courage tried to climb faster than her cowardice but it failed dismally. She released another sigh and looked at the heads, in an attempt to avoid the eyes. "My... I was just thinking and ... I guess I was just wondering what you thought about...you know! Vi... Vincent's death" Just saying his name made her heart tighten painfully. The name tasted like something forbidden, her mouth felt too foul to deserve saying his name. A tear almost escaped from Sarah's eye as her grandmother mumbled something incoherently. She wasn't strong enough for that yet! "Why?" The question was from the other side of the table, across from her.
"I guess the death was just too peculiar grandma, I mean who dies on their wedding day?" Madison asked reaching over to brush Sarah's hand in support. The autopsy detected no diseases or anything that might have been the cause, he basically just died. A few minutes before he walked down the isle, with her. "Death has no manners my child! None whatsoever... Victor was horrible but he was a human being!" Her wrinkled shone as she tried to form words of comfort. "Maybe it's karma..." A burp! "I mean he wasn't exactly an angel..." Disbelief reflected in the eyes of everyone around the table. Grandma Tutu continued with a shrug "Maybe God needed his good looks in heaven!"
Her mother was watching everything quietly, gauging everyone's facial expressions.
