Sarah's eyes were barely open, her lashes flickering every once in a while. She kept muttering one thing over and over again. Even as her mouth was dry and her voice was barely audible.
Grandma
Grandma
Grandma!Tutu, in her hysterical state forced her shaky legs to carry her to the chair beside the bed. Her bottom came into contact with yet another uncomfortable hospital chair. She sighed heavily and helped herself to the tissues Talya offered from besides her, where she got them from wasn't even a concern to the old woman. She dabbed at her face and blew her nose into it.
Sarah's mouth was still moving, a slight part of the chapped lips, a small mutter escaped!
Grandma!
Grandma Tutu wrapped her warm hand around Sarah's alarmingly cold one when words failed to escape her mouth. It was as if a ball had lodged itself in her throat. Refusing to let words pass through without tears threatening to spill from her still red eyes.
She cleared her throat and tried again, "I'm... I'm here Sweetie." Talya watched the exchange quietly, noting how Sarah's mutters quietened as her grandmother rubbed her old hand over hers. Her eyes held a strange emotion, it flickered on and off as if a bigger battle was going on!
Her heart tightened as Grandma Tutu's hand seemed to cast a spell on her daughter, who's eyes were now definitely shut and the crease on her forehead smoothed out. Her ribs felt like a cage that tightened and closed in on her beating heart, it was uncomfortable. Talya knew that her name would always be the last one out of her daughter's mouth. She didn't blame her but the tightening in her chest didn't cease.
Her daughter's breathing was now notably stable, her chest rose and fell steadily. She was asleep, because her grandmother is next to her! An annoying voice inside her head remarked! She dragged her lower lip to rest between her teeth and chewed on it shortly after.
The air in the room became thick, so thick her breathing was picking up speed. Her eyes ran along the details in the room as an attempt to distract herself from the thickening air forcing itself up her nostrils.
If she didn't get out of here she would suffocate. So she let her lower lip rest in it's original place, brighter in colour and a bit puffed out than before.
She cleared her throat and smoothed out her skirt with her sweaty palms. "Uhmm.. I'll just go check and talk to the doctor." The sound of her heels walking away spoke all the things she couldn't even admit to herself without feeling some type of way.
Now was not the time for her to drown in self hate and break her own heart, It was not the time!
