The next day at school, Miri stood at the top of a tower. The rest of her classmates who she was competing against were in their own areas. All Might lie in the center, waiting for one student to come "rescue" him.
Miri's body was still slightly sore from her new training regimen with the weights. She slipped the weights on under her uniform and attended school, walking around with them on. Walking became easier, and she found that the weights only really made her arms feel heavy. She took them off for this exercise, however.
This exercise would be a piece of cake for Miri had she not have to go against Bakugo and Todoroki.
Between her and Todoroki, it was a friendly competition. However, neither of them planned to go easy on the other. Miri acknowledged a personality change in Todoroki since their last interaction with each other in the hospital. He seemed a lot more open and almost friendly towards her and she wondered if it was because she hugged him the night he and the others fought Stain.
She almost laughed at herself. Her cheeks tinted red remembering what they said to each other. There was no way his interactions with her changed just because she hugged him. There had to be something else.
Bakugo was someone who threatened Miri's chances of winning this exercise. At the mention of competition of any sort, Bakugo was only one mode: full throttle.
Miri had watched Midoriya and his race. He had vastly improved in his ability to control his quirk in a week and was no longer breaking his bones.
She felt happy for him. She knew how important it was for him to get stronger, to handle his quirk.
This exercise was really a battle of mobility. Miri's mobility wasn't horrible, but up against someone like Bakugo who was a threat in the skies?
"Positions!" All Might cheered. Somewhere in the center of that area, that big lovable man lay in wait for someone to rescue him.
Miri bent her knees, her swirling green aura covering her body. All she's ever wanted was to rescue people, that's her entire drive to be a hero.
"GO!" His voice called out through the microphone.
Miri sailed into the skies with a giant leap. She looked around with her moment in the air and spotted Bakugo not too far off, making his way quickly towards the center.
Miri landed, her speed increasing gradually with every step she took. She swung from bars, sliding and flying past them like a trained acrobatic.
She launched herself into the air again, seeing All Might several yards away, standing in the middle of the arena. She saw Todoroki and Bakugo not too far away, making their way just as much as she was.
Miri landed once more and resumed her climbing and jumping.
With one last giant leap from Miri, she saw Todoroki and Bakugo both in the air with her. Determination painted their faces as they all dove to touch the circle before the other.
At the end of the exercise, it was a draw between the three, much to everyone's surprise.
Kaminari came running in a minute after they all arrived, panting. "Jesus, I saw none of you the entire time."
"I DEMAND A REMATCH!" Bakugo howled.
"I demand a nap." Miri sighed, ready for the day to be over.
Back in the classroom, Miri sat at her desk, barely awake. All of last night had been her tossing and turning over everything she told her mother.
Did she go too far? What she said was hurtful, but at the time she wanted to hurt her mother's feelings. She wanted her mother to understand how Miri felt all those nights that they would argue. Was that not fair? Was it okay for her to do that?
