Chapter Twenty-five

" We've lost some of our partners, Adam. In a span of two months, our sales has been going down. Who knows what will happen in a few weeks?" Allios entered my office without a warning bringing in another bad news.

I massaged my temple. A lot has happened to me lately. I've lost some deals and the investors are backing out. Although I was confident about my family's other businesses, CARAT Golds is one of our most important assets.

It was for my grandmother. She inspired this business. She was the epitome of this business and I won't let it go down, just like that.

" How about your company?" I asked my brother. I leaned on my office chair as I watched him sat on the couch.

" Doing better. Why don’t you try asking for Gregg's help? You have a lot of friends, anyway."

" Kuya, it's difficult to seal the deal with Mr. Mallari." I reasoned out.

" I know. I guess you've lost your luck and charms, brother."

Napailing ako. I don't really believe in luck pero kung iyon ang naiisip ng aking kapatid ay baka nga minalas na ako sa taong ito. I only have a few investors left and some of our clients are choosing some other company over us.

" I think you need a fortune teller." Wolfram said when I told him about my problem.

I scoffed." What could a fortune teller do?"

" Ask some advice on how you could get back on track. On how to find your luck. I mean those shits work for others."

Shaking my head, I downed the whiskey. But Wolfram's words clouded my mind. Hindi naman masama ang sumubok. I have nothing to lose anyway.

So I asked for a fortune teller. And it's just a bunch of crazy ideas. He told me that I could find a woman that could bring me a good luck. I tried it once. I brought a woman to a client's meeting but failed to seal the deal. It made a worst impression on the client.

" What is this?" I asked my brother, Ashton, as he puts down a fancy invitation in front of me.

" That's an invitation for the Fortuno's Auction event." he said with a stoic expression. My brow raised as I stared at the invitation.

" This is a list of women's names." I stared at him, still confused.

" Kailangan mo ng babae hindi ba?"

Well, his question did not sound right.

" No," I chuckled. " Why would you think that?" I leaned my back comfortably as I let myself relax for a while.  Ashton don’t usually visit Manila. His territory is our hospital. Heck, he almost live there!

" The fortune teller told you to find a woman." The words of the fortune teller did not sound right, either, I think it’s still absurd. And I even believed it, anyways. Ang sabi naman ay walang mawawala sa akin kung hindi ko susubukan. I guess my luck in finding the right woman isn’t working either.

" It didn't work, okay? What makes you think that this could help me?" I can’t help but shake my head. Trying the second time? Not bad, either but I don’t have the time anyways. A lot has been going on in the company and even though I still make money, I couldn’t keep up at all.

I’d spent a lot of sleepless nights thinking what to do or what to plan next to pull the sales up and make a higher profit.

“ Just try, Kuya. Wala namang mawawala sa’yo and please, pick the best one.” I don’t know if Ashton was trying to imply something but I just found myself looking through the names of the women.
