The Picture

When I look at the picture on the wall,
My lips expand to make a wide U.
A younger me when I was not so tall,
With mummy, daddy and little Emma too.

A movie starts screening before my eyes
Of that day when I had turned nine.
Dressed like a Princess and waving my wand,
Thinking the whole world was mine.

When I returned from my magical Dream World,
I was smothered with tight hugs and kisses.
And after a myriad of greetings, at breakfast
On the table lay all my favorite dishes.

Soon after having a too heavy breakfast
Till my little tummy was about to burst,
As promised, we went down the main street
To buy me my birthday present.

I stopped near a famous toy store,
Looking through the glass with eyes full of awe.
There sat a huge, fluffy Teddy Bear,
Covered with fur as white as snow.

I caught hold of daddy's finger
With my tiny little hand,
And took him inside the store,
Opposite the Teddy made him stand.

With the voice that melts all hearts,
"Daddy, I want this Teddy," I cried.
He glanced at the price tag and then
My eyes flooded when I was denied.

With anger on my face, I left the store,
Crossed the road, towards home heading.
"Wait! My Princess, please wait!!" behind me
I could hear my father pleading.

I turned around to face my family,
My face still full of downheartedness
They were crossing the road, this scene
Can never ever fade away from my eyes.

Then what happened, my pen can't write.
I'll scribble it with my tears.
A car came drifting from their right,
Tossing them, like a bull too fierce.

I stood there like the universe fell on me.
My scream turned my own ears deaf.
Someone blew life out of my body.
My heartbeats couldn't be felt.

Walking to them with the heaviest of treads,
I fell down right on my knees.
Three lifeless bodies bathed in blood,
Blood redder than the Red Sea.

And now, when I look at the picture on the wall,
Reminds the day when the world for me ended.
Tears roll down my face like a waterfall.
They left me alone, ORPHANED...
