The next morning, I threw myself out of bed and into my outfit for the day; business casual because I'd be meeting a representative at the airport in Virginia. I put on my jacket, swung my satchel over my shoulder, grabbed my suitcase, and left for Heathrow.

Getting onto my 10am flight was seamless; but I now had nearly 8 hours to kill with only my phone, laptop, a book, and my thoughts. I figured it would be best to not open a classified case file in the middle of a crowded plane. Instead, I ran what details I could remember through my head.

The motive, most likely, was some kind of revenge. The problem with that thought was the United States Senate has 100 senators- and there was a good chance that every single one of them, as all politicians do, had enemies. Instead, I focused on the way that the murders occurred. The stabbing was a common method of murder, but in itself told me that the killer was strong enough to overpower their victims even after smashing a mirror and getting their attention. The fact that the killer had stabbed their victims in the back despite their strength negating the need for an ambush meant that either the killer felt remorse during the crime (which in itself was an interesting prospect) or that stabbing in the back was of some significance. If it was, the killer may have felt betrayed by the senator that they were targeting. These ideas would greatly help the investigation.

At some point during the flight I fell asleep. The jolt of the plane's wheels hitting the runway at Dulles woke me up. I left the plane and went through passport control, picked up my suitcase, and looked for the person who I was told would be waiting for me with a sign bearing my name. In the meantime, I assessed my surroundings; American airports, to my slight dismay, were not much different than those in Europe. And since you can't see much outside of an airport whilst inside, my analysis ended just in time to notice the man looking for me.
