As sunlight shone down from above, Alex drove to Lola's block of flats and parked up outside. Lola felt the taste of sick burning in her throat and she wondered how long it would take her to vomit all over the floor.

Opening the car door, she stepped onto the street still in Alex's Lacoste and her knee socks, with her clothes from the previous night bundled up and tucked under her arm. Alex stepped out of the car too and locked it.

"What are you doing?" Lola queried. "Why are you coming with me?"

"You said you were worried about Jack being here when you got back," Alex answered. "If you want, I can walk you to your apartment. If not, I'll go fetch your car, drop it off and then I'll leave and be off your back for good. It's totally up to you."

Warmth spread through Lola's heart. He had displayed the utmost level of care and compassion for her and she could never hope to repay him.

"Would you mind walking me? The thought of Jack being here is really stressing me out. I think I might end up throwing up again... I doubt you want to miss such a pretty sight," she added jokingly.

"Come on then," Alex chuckled. "Let's get you home, finally."

After taking the lift, the pair arrived on Lola's level, where they walked out onto the floor, which was carpeted in an ugly blue colour. After a short-lived journey down the corridor, they came to Lola's flat. Much to her horror, stood outside the door, was Jack Denver.

Lola felt her jaw clench, as Jack eyed her up and down. He then turned to look at Alex with a similar look of disgust.

"I did come to ask if you wanted to get back together with me, Lola, but it seems as though you've already moved on. Wearing some other bloke's shirt over a pair of your socks? This is the walk of shame, if I ever saw it. I have to say I'm surprised. It's not even been 24 hours and you're already fooling around with somebody else."

Lola's cheeks heated up. "Don't you dare turn this on me! You cheated on me and have been doing so for who knows how long. You're the one in the wrong. I have done nothing! I haven't suddenly gone and found somebody else. Alex, here, provided me with somewhere to sleep for the night, when I had nowhere to go for the evening, thanks to you!"

Jack scoffed, eyeing Alex sceptically. "Oh, I'm sure he gave you somewhere to sleep for the night, alright."

Lola glowered at Jack and felt her eyes grow teary with anger.

"Oi, mate," Alex cut in, trying to maintain a calm demeanour. "She doesn't want to talk to you. I think you should leave."

"I'm not having some random bloke, who thinks he's hard, telling me to leave my girlfriend alone. If anyone should leave, it's you!" Jack yelled.
