After reaching the farm, they immediately ran up to the farmhouse, a cozy red-painted single-story house, set on top of a small hill. They left their bags in the tent, and, after changing into jeans, went out to explore the rocks. After getting bored of the few shorter ones, they started challenging each other, with Lisa and Emma making them harder, and Myra and Alfie protesting at each challenge. ('No! My hair will be ruined!', protested Myra.) After even that got boring, they went inside the tent to play cards. 'Dinner time!' Lisa's dad called. They had eaten a quick lunch of a sandwich each, so they were all extremely hungry now.
Dinner was mashed potatoes and fried chicken, a classic but still a favourite of Lisa's. Finally, with the end of the day, came the presents! Myra had given her a purse (obviously) in bright pink, which would go with Lisa's new jacket. Alfie gave her a book she had wanted for quite some time. And then finally, Emma gave her the best gift of all time: a camera! 'Thank you so so so much! Yes! Finally!' Was what Lisa exclaimed when she saw it, and that made Emma beam, while the others looked on with good-natured jealousy, for it was rare for even her friends to get her to smile as wide as she did on that day.
After that, they said 'bye' to Lisa's parents, because they were going to drive home in their car, while they stayed the night with a 'nanny' (even though all four of them believed that they didn't need one).
Soon, the time came when they had to sleep, and so they trudged off to the tent at the bottom of the hill, and, chattering non-stop (Lisa, not so much) slipped into their sleeping bags.
The next morning, after a breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and orange juice, an hour of packing up and a lot of protests, they were all loaded up in the bus and ready to go home. But while Lisa was chatting away with her friends, little did she know that her life was about to change...
