In the next month that followed, everything was tiring Sadie further than before, draining her energy with each passing day.

It seemed that the only times she ever had any energy was with Caleb or any of his friends, which she was seeing more of since that night at their party. She still wasn't sure how exactly to feel about that. It was mostly just a bundle of mixed emotions she couldn't pull apart from one another long enough to know what was good or bad.

But what was wrong with her lately? Tired, always so tired. She knew the main reason, the sole cause of all her problems, but the only thing that ever had her feeling like she had purpose.

It was just her job, really, sucking the life out of her like some deadly blackhole. It seemed like she had been spiralling so suddenly, crashing down ready to spontaneously combust into nothing but dust. Finding it harder and harder to breathe with every second she stood in front of the camera, with every blinding flash before her eyes, with every stab of their harsh words.

"It'd look prettier on her if she lost a few pounds," she had overheard an assistant on set of the photoshoot whisper to another.

The makeup artist that at the moment was currently applying vibrant eyeshadow upon her eyelids had also overheard, immediately snapping at the assistant about how they didn't even have a meaningful part to play in all this. On her behalf, of course. Sadie couldn't find the strength in her to even smile as she mumbled a small thanks to the makeup artist, feeling herself even more hollow inside as she decided she would skip lunch even though she hadn't ate breakfast.

She was so tired of everything. Tired. Exhausted. Drained. . .

The relief that washed over her as she stepped into the comfort of her apartment was barely anything to her at that point. Too much numbness for too long. It should have felt like a deep intake of air into her lungs, but it felt shallow. She felt shallow. Like an empty shell of a person.

All she wanted to do was to sleep. She didn't care that she only drank water and tea throughout the day, or that she only ate an apple when she started feeling lightheaded from standing in front of the bright light, or that she could still hear those nasty words echoing in the back of her mind. Sleep is all she wanted, all she really needed for the time being.

Yet, nothing was ever according to plan for her ever since a certain somebody had moved into the apartment below her own.
