Spirits Of The Sea Of Trees (Part 2)

My eyes instinctively glanced around the surrounding area to find the source of the voices, but yet again, nothing came to sight.

"Who's there?" I called out again as I start to see the tree's shadows loom around. No more than a few moments later, a small red panda approached me with 'great interest' in my pants.

Slowly but surely I managed to at least pat it on the head, but that was grave mistake. More and more fluffy animals then came walking up to me, suddenly the red panda talked.

"What is your name, young boy?" It asked. HOLY SHIT THAT THING TALKED!!!

"M-Mide Kazuku, あなたわ (You are)?" I tried so hard not to pass out while saying that.

"I am Kotake Daichi, よろしくお願いいたします(It's nice to meet you), Kazuku-shonen." The little red panda introduced, his eyes looking like glasses.

"My name is Momoka Yuuta, the tweety birdie over there is Youta Hanashi. Grumpy ol' log over there is Seishin Ryouka." The parrot said while fluttering her feathers.

"We are the spirits of the Oak's Path, we lead any lost soul here to their rightful place. I'm Urokodake Tanaka,  I'm like the 'leader' of this part of the forest." I look around to see where this Tanaka-san was.

I spin around and around, earning myself giggles from the small crowd of animals.

"Over here." A certain tree said with a deadpan voice. I look towards it and I saw the one of the most strangest things in my life, besides a pickle in a hotdog.

A gassy ghost like figure of a man somewhere in his 30's, whirled out of the tree with crossed arms. Grey from top to bottom, his thick rim glasses sat comfortably on his nose, almost completely covered by his messy hair. Not soon after I turn around to see the same thing happen with the animals, gassy people started to appear everywhere.

"My acquaintances told me that you know of the Faded Spirit." Tanaka-san seemed to go down straight to his point, "How do you know of this spirit?"

"Honestly, who is that?" I asked with all honesty in my voice giving a tilted head to them at the same time. That eventually earned me a thousand other tilting heads and question marks seemed to float on top everyone's head. At the corner of my eye, I swear that I could've saw someone slap their forehead while half hiding behind a tree.

"The girl who invited you to see the 花火(fireworks), you know her?" A soft voice asked me.

"Are you acquainted with Yujiro-san?" Another one asked.

"あら(Oh)! 湯次郎-さん彼氏がいますか(Yujiro-san has a boyfriend)?"

"可愛い(Cute)!"

"Girls, please stop. You're scaring the boy." Tanaka-san thankfully saved me from them fangirling all over me. I owe him forever now.

"Yeah. Shut up ya'll."

"You're one to talk, you quiet down to Seishin." Yet again, my saviour arrives on a horse back.

The gassy figures start retreating back to their original forms as droplets of rain drip down through the tree's leaves. I blankly stare up to the sky as the sad clouds blanket me in their tears.

"Kazuku-shonen, you better get going now. Bad things tend to happen in the forest when the rain drops by. You can come by once it passes." Tanaka-san informs me peeping his head out from the tree.

No wonder Yujiro keeps saying she has business. Wait, Yujiro. I run through the trees as I try to navigate myself to the giant oak tree that marks the entrance, hoping that she is there.

Seconds of sprinting through the trees finally ends as I arrived at my destination, drenched through and through. I look down to see a small cardboard box, almost the size of my hand, though I couldn't find her, I couldn't risk getting caught again. I pick it up and run straight back in the house.

Luckily, no one saw me making my way inside the house. I sneak into my small room at the very back of the house as I slide the room door close.

Hiding the box in the closet, I take a bath and change into dry clothes before any cold could get to me. Sitting down on the floor, I pull out the little box from the closet as I open it to see a small note and a clip.

Wear this :) 9:30 same tree. Don't be late. ---->                                     *clip*

Heh, looks cute. It was a fabric blue clip with a small fish on the side, small white stitches on the side made it look even more childish. I put the little clip on as my long strand of hair starts itching my eyes. Pulling back my hair, I clip it at the top of my head while some other strands escape the clip's hold.

Meh. It looks fine, better than nothing.

It's almost dinner time but the rain hasn't stopped pouring yet, man the forecasters were right. Now I have the whole evening to myself and my thoughts. I pick up my phone and flick it open to read the time.

6:33. Ugh, so much more time to kill. 9:30's not the best time to sneak out, there's basically no one to come help you if you get lost.

If I lay down now, I'll be late for dinner. Actually, I don't care. As though I'm not suspicious enough.

The clock strikes 6:40 as I push myself of the floor, failing the attempt to get some shut eye. Walking down the hallway, I find myself a glaring Kyouka as I peek into her open room.

"Mide. Care to explain where you got that clip?"
