-3rd Person POV-

Patton woke with a start, his alarm clock jolting him out of a quiet sleep. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, smacking the off button on top of his clock with the back of his hand. He stretched and reached for his glasses that were sitting on his night stand, picked them up and placed them on his face.

"Time to go make breakfast for the others," he stood up, yawning.

He pulled his pajama shirt over his head and threw it into a basket at the end of his bed, humming Waterloo as he got dressed in a loose blue shirt and tan jeans. He walked down to the kitchen, glancing at the basement door as he passed, and grabbed a box of pancake mix out of a cabinet beside the fridge.

"Patton? Is that you?"

Patton turned around to find Virgil walking down the stairs yawning, wearing purple boxers and his hoodie.

"Morning Virgie, I'm just making breakfast. You up for pancakes?"

"When am I not up for pancakes? Your pancakes are pretty much all I eat."

They both chuckled and Virgil sat at the table to watch as Patton made breakfast.

"Did you sleep alright Virgie?"

"Yeah, I didn't have a nightmare again, which was super. But what about you? I won't pry, but I'm curious as to why you were going to the basement."

Patton knew that Virgil would be curious, but he knew that he respected him enough to trust him and not force him to talk.

"Virgil, you now how much I trust you, but I don't think you would understand," Patton spoke smoothly, trying not to show his fear, "I don't want you to worry though because I can promise you that I'm safe."

While he was talking, Virgil had walked up behind him and suddenly wrapped his arms around Patton's waist.

"Don't worry Patton, I trust you, and I know you always have reason for what you do. I'm not gonna tell the others. I just wanted to know."

Patton smiled, leaning his head back against Virgil's shoulder and basked in the rare embrace from the paranoid man.

"Ok, ok, fine. I'll tell you, but let go before these pancakes burn."

Virgil sat back at the table so Patton could flip the pancakes and waited patiently for him to finish.

After he had finished breakfast for everyone, he set up a plate for Virgil and him and sat next to him to talk.

"Ok, so, I've been going to that basement for a while," Virgil nodded, drenching his pancakes in syrup like he usually does, "And I've been.......... seeing someone."

Virgil almost choked on a bite of pancake, but he calmed down and swallowed before talking.

"Who?"

"R-remus."

Patron looked at his hands, letting a silence fall over the both of them for a few seconds. He was scared of how Virgil would react because he knew that the others didn't trust his secret partner. But Virgil smiled and placed his hand on top of Patton's, making him look up in surprise.

"Do you like him?"

Patton stared at him for a second before smiling and nodding.

"Then I like him to. I honestly knew you had been sneaking into the basement for a while and I never guessed it would be for this, but I see how much happier you have been since you started and as long as you're happy, it doesn't matter who you're seeing."

Patton eyes started tearing and he jumped forward, wrapping his arms around Virgil and bawled.

"Thank you Virgil! You have no idea how much that means to me!"

They sat there for a little while as Patton cried from relief on Virgil's shoulder until they heard footsteps on the stairs. They both looked up to find Roman walking sleepily down the stairs.

"What did I miss," he questioned groggily.

"Nothing Roman. Come here, Patton made pancakes."

Virgil stood up and hugged the prince before sitting him down at the table with some pancakes. He glanced up at Patton and winked, making him smile. Patton was relieved beyond belief and he couldn't wait to tell Remus the good news later tonight.
