Panic Part 1

3rd Person POV

It was late, and Patton was sneaking out of his room, heading to the basement again. He was at the end of the hall, just above the stairs when he heard something break behind him. He whirled around to find Roman standing a little ways away, following him.

"Roman, what are you doing up?" Patton tried to seem unsuspicious as he whispered to the prince.

"The better question is what are you doing up," Roman eyebrows furrowed as he showed off a rare scowl, "I heard you talking to Virgil today, why are you going to the basement."

Patton started to panic, so instead of answering he started running down the stairs. He heard Roman coming after him so he did the first thing that came to mind, he ran into the basement. Remus was there waiting for him, having heard the commotion, and already had the door open for him. He caught the scared light side as he fell through the door way and shut it behind them, locking it so Roman couldn't follow.

There was a loud banging on the door as Remus helped Patton down the stairs.

"I know you're in there Patton!" Roman seemed to not care who he woke up, "And I know I saw Remus too! If you hurt a single hair on his head Remus, you're done for!"

The banging continued for a few more seconds until it was stopped by the now very annoyed, awake Virgil. Patton could hear him scolding Roman, but it soon faded into silence when he was in Remus's room.

"What happened?"

Remus pulled the still shaken up Patton into a tight hug to try and stop him from shaking. Patton had never been so scared of Roman in his life and couldn't believe what had just happened. Remus laid them on the bed and let Patton explain what happened.

He told him how Virgil had caught him coming out of the basement the night before, and how he had trust Patton for whatever he wanted and didn't need to know what was going on. He told him how excited he was to tell him about what Virgil had said. Then he got to the part of just now. He was sneaking out and Roman had caught him, saying that he heard what he and Virgil had talked about, and chased him down the stairs to Remus.

"That little bastard of a brother," he lover sneered looking up in the general direction of the door to the basement, "I can't believe he would do that."

"Remus what are we gonna do?" Patton gripped the black t-shirt Remus was wearing and tried not to cry, "I don't want to be away from you! I don't want to have to leave you!"

Patton burst into tears and fell onto his lovers chest. Remus set a determined face and pulled him back up to look at him.

"I don't know what we'll do," he leaned close so they were eye to eye, "But I promise that whatever happens, I will never let you go."

Patton smiled, wiping away his tears and Remus pulled him back into a hug, kissing his forehead and rubbing his back gently.

"Now," Remus let go and stood up, "You need to get some sleep. It's late and you're not going to be able to help if you're exhausted and panicked."

Patton was about to object but decided against it. Remus smiled and walked towards a black cabinet to the left of his door and pulled out two sets of pajamas. Since Patton always came downstairs wearing his regular clothes Remus threw one of the pairs to the other male. It was black with neon green ink marks and silky.

"Thanks Remus."

"Any time," Remus smiled, "You know, this is the first time you're actually going to stay the night."

Patton hadn't thought of that, he was happy that he could finally spend the night with Remus, he just wished it hadn't been a traumatic surprise.

He slipped himself into the pajama pants after taking off his own clothes and was about to start buttoning up the shirt when Remus grabbed him from behind on the bed and pulled down. Remus kissed him before fumbling back and under the covers. Patton chuckled, finished buttoning the shirt and climbed in after him, cuddling up behind him.

They both sighed contently, relishing in each other's embrace before falling asleep without a worry for the next day.
