"Okay, if you win the game, we'll celebrate, okay?" I promised, his eyes lit up and a grin plastered on his face. I held up my pinky and he entertwined it with his.
"That's a deal," He replies and I nodded at him before I unbuckled my seatbelt.
"See you when I see you, Wright!" I waved goodbye when I hopped off his car. He gave me a salute before he drove off our house.
"You're home early," I say to Kai, who was leaning on the countertop drinking water. He looks like he just came home too. He was still wearing his thick black hoodie and a burgundy Carhartt beanie on his head.
"You're with that guy again?" He says pertaining to Henry, his brows arched at me.
"What's the problem with it? He's a friend, you ass," I hissed at him.
I was about to go towards the stairs but then he holds on my elbow.
"Let's go, we're eating outside," He commanded. I rolled my eyes at him as I huffed and turned around to follow him.
He hands me his spare helmet as I sat at the back of his motorcycle. He knew how to drive this one, that's why I wasn't scared of it.
We stopped by to our favorite fast food, Chick-fil-A. I honestly just go here for the Grilled Chicken Club and also the strawberry milkshake.
"I'll have-" I was about to say my order but then he turned his back already.
"I already know yours, Adeline," He retorted without looking back to me. I rolled my eyes at him before I went to sit on our spot and waited for him to order.
It's been like that when we always ate outside, he orders and pays for the food which made me think where he gets this extra money to eat here. The allowance our mom gave us was surely just enough for us to survive the week.
"Okay, seriously, we've been eating outside for the past three months ever since Mom went MIA on us. Where'd you get your money, Kai?" I questioned.
"A simple thanks would've been enough," He answers monotonously as he puts down the tray with our order.
"Thanks but, I'm not that naive to not wonder why you suddenly have this money that you pay for food and the gas," I continued. I sipped on my milkshake while I waited for him to answer.
"Are you just going to keep on staring at me or you're going to eat your food?" He lifts a brow at me as he scowled.
"Why are you so mean? You're just a year older than me," I mumbled as I stuck out my tongue at him before I took a bite on my burger.
"And yet you're still immature," He countered as he rolled his eyes at me.
