Chapter 6- Detective Side

Masaya akong pumasok sa Smith University - my University - to train as early as now. Papalapit na ng papalapit ang Competition and it makes me happy-somewhat nervous. The Intramurals is fast approaching. Tama talaga ang sabi nila na mabilis ang oras kapag masaya ka sa ginagawa mo. Badminton is my companion when I'm lonely-aside from my bestfriend Jane of course. Hindi ito nawawala kapag talagang kailangan ko. Kung tao man ito masasabi kong One Call Away.

Simula noong binutas ko ang gulong ni Ferry last week ay hindi na ako nito pinapansin and ang nakakagulat ay parang hinahanap ko siya palagi. He is acting grumpy and cold. Hindi naman siya ganoon sa mga classmates namin, sa'kin lang talaga. Kahapon nga, kasali kami sa group at gagawa kami ng problems tungkol sa topic namin and we will be letting our classmates to answer them, hindi niya ako kinibo at siya na lang ang gumawa ng problem at ako ang nagpresent gaya ng sabi ng leader namin dahil 'di naman ako kinakausap nito.

Upon entering, may napansin akong dalawang box sa taas ng table sa tapat ng metal chair ko. Isang kulay pink at isang kulay black. Nalilito ako sa'kin ba ang mga iyon. Hindi ko naman birthday.

Ah! Secret admirers. Kailan ba ako masasanay sa mga ito. Ang cocorny naman ng mga pakulo para magpapansin.

Katulad na lamang nito.

"Starbucks ka ba? Kasi ikaw ang star ng buhay ko"

Starbucks? Naalala ko na naman iyong unang malas na pagkikita namin ni Ferry. Noong natapunan ako ng Iced Coffee and tinuhod ko naman ang tutut niya haha.

Enough from the reminiscing, I got to know that these are for me kasi may nakasulat na name ko.

Pink box : To Van
Black box : To Lucy

I love black. I loathe pink. It's too girly. For me, it just shows how weak a lady is. Black for me represents boldness and strength. I don't want to show my fragility for them not to abuse it. Black is like an ingredient for me to be able to disguise my frailness.

By the way, I chose to open the pink one kasi sabi nga nila. Save the best for last.

I opened the box and it happens to be an explosion surprise box full of chocolates with different high-end brands. Ang ganda ng pagkakagawa and parang hindi handmade! I'm delighted to look at those and at the same time, excited to taste all of them. I super love sweets especially, chocolates.

May letter din ito with a not-so-good penmanship but it is readable. The message says:

I know it's too late to utter these words since I committed my mistake for a few weeks ago. I AM SORRY VAN, for ditching you for our first date. ( Although I did not ditch you purposely) I hope you understand. By the way, we have the same name. I'm Jasper Van and you're Lucy Vanessa. Is it destiny? Haha kidding aside. Are you free this Saturday? I promise, I cleared my schedule and we will meet at the mall @9 in the morning. Take care!

This is perfection aside from picking the pink color. I'm not that mad anymore at him. I can't stay mad for a long time to the person I like, right? Or I am not mad in the first place, nagtatampo lang siguro.

Out of curiosity, I opened the black box. It is far the same from the first one. I cannot see any present. Walang bulaklak, the giver's name , chocolates or kahit ano. Aside from the strange series of numbers and a short message saying:

I just wanna try my detective side although I'm new to reading such. Decode it to know what's happening. :)

Tama sila, kaya heto ako ngayon sa cafeteria to find time cracking this code. Pinipiga ang utak ko at sa tingin ko nagdurugo na ito sa loob. I ordered coffee to have some quality time while focusing on this message.

After several trials, I come up with a way on how to decode it. Kung anong number ang nakalagay ay ang letter that corresponds to this ang sagot. Example A is 1, B is 2 and so on.
