Dear Readers, I hope you've been having a nice time following the story. I really appreciate that you're reading. Like I've been saying, I'll really appreciate if you make one or two nice remarks. It won't take much of your time. Thank you 🤗🤗Steve's POV
The closer I moved to her the more she increased her strides. I kept wondering why she waited outside the coffee shop (that's how it seemed), said only good morning and ran off. Following her was me trying to find out exactly why she did that. Unfortunately I couldn't find out, remembering that I had an exam that morning, I had to stop following her. I slowly turned and went my way. Somehow, I was sure I would see her around soon again, then, I'll find out.
As soon as I was done with my exam, I left the hall. Tired me didn't even try to talk to anybody. I went straight to my room. Jason wasn't back yet, that for the better. Within some minutes I was fast asleep, that was what my body wanted.
I woke up in the evening full of energy. It was just what I needed to start reading.
I had an another exam the next morning, majoring in Geography can't exactly be classified as easy but my love for earth and its geographic features were enough to keep me going.
Not long after I started reading Jason returned to the room. It's like exam has some special abilities to take a person to the highest level of exhaustion. Entering the room, Jason went straight to bed. The way he sounded in his sleep was enough to convince me that he was tired. After reading for a couple hours, I once again felt exhausted. Since it was already late, I went off to bed, woke up the next morning.
I wrote my exam with much relish and by the time I was done I was tired and wanted to run off to my room but before I could get the chance, Bryan dragged me off me to play basketball.
Bryan was my closest friend. We've been friends from high school. We became closer when we found out we had the same course in mind. We ended up choosing the same university.
I went with Bryan, I couldn't refuse him anyway.
After a round, I picked up my bag ready to go. I still wanted to sleep.
"Hey Steve, Where are you going?" Bryan called behind me.
"I'm tired man. I need some rest." I replied and continued to walk towards the entrance.
"Chill man. Let's go have dinner together"
He went to pack his bag and joined me outside."Are you cooking?", I asked him. Bryan was a great cook. That was an aspect of him I envied.
"No"
"Strange, why?"
"I met this girl yesterday, she's so lively and chatty. I thought it would be nice if we met again. We planned to see today, after her exam. I just want you to come with," He said, his mouth moving so fast while I looked at him as though he was speaking gibberish.
"And what am I supposed to do there? I don't even like girls who talk too much."
"Make a new friend Steve and have a life. Who cares if she talks too much or not? You can't sulk over Susan for forever. All you've been doing since the breakup is play basketball and sleep. It's high time that changed."
I couldn't deny he was telling the truth."I'm not sulking over Susan" Those words coming out of my mouth sounded more like I was convincing myself rather than defending myself.
"Prove that by coming with me"
"Okay.... I'll come," I agreed, knowing I couldn't argue with him anymore.
After our talk, we went to clean up. We got to the restaurant few minutes to 5. I ordered a burger and soda. Bryan didn't order, said he wanted her to come first. He could wait but I couldn't, I was starving. Eating slowly, I started to wonder who this girl could be.
I didn't need to wonder for so long. Few minutes past five. Someone called Bryan behind me. I didn't turn to see, was trying to keep it cool.
"Hey Bryan"
I heard the tiny high-pitched voice. That voice sounded like it could solve a thousand problems just when heard.I heard her walk up to us. She greeted Bryan and turned to greet me, I looked, and who I saw was the least person I expected. Or maybe not.
Linda's POV
...Right, it was him, the cute guy.
"Steve meet Linda, Linda meet Steve," Bryan said.
His name is Steve... I thought in my head.
We shook hands. I mean, I finally got to know his name.I was elated. My thoughts were running extremely wild. Seated in front of me were technically two really cute guys in front of me. One, I had a crush on, the other was my new found friend. It felt like nothing could be more exciting, but most exciting of all was the fact that I'd finally gotten the chance to talk to the cute guy I secretly admired. Steve.
I sat down next to Steve. I couldn't sit opposite, if I did I sure would be caught staring or stealing glances at him. I didn't want that. Bryan stood up, he said he wanted to order what we would eat. He left.
"And so we meet again. Nice meeting you Linda." Steve said beside me. I looked at his side and nodded.
"Nice meeting you too Steve. It's more like we finally get to talk," I replied. I couldn't describe how I felt on the insides of me anymore. I was happy, excited, speechless but I dared not show it. I tried my best to keep it cool. Damn, it was hard.
"Oh, Do you have something you want to say to me?" He smiled while asking. That smile sent butterflies to my stomach while his question baffled me.
"Have something to say to you?" I looked lost. Why would he think I had something to say to him. Did he mean me apologizing for what happened at the party?
Or did I have something to say to him? Or what could explain my standing and waiting that day at the coffee shop?
"Yeah, you said we finally get to talk like you've always been waiting for this moment, the moment we get to talk," He said rescuing me from my pool of thoughts.
"Oh," I exclaimed. "Not that, we've been meeting a lot without really saying anything to each other. Take a look at the fact that we don't even know each other's name," I said.
Deep down, I knew he was right and I had always been waiting for this day. I just didn't think it would happen so soon.
"We've been meeting?" he asked obviously perplexed. I felt confused, we sure had been meeting and he even knew that.
"Was he trying to tease me?" I thought examining his face.
Just as I wanted to talk Bryan showed up with our food. Guy has problem with time. That cut our conversation really short. Somehow, it seemed as if both Steve and I didn't want him to know we knew each other. Or we didn't even know each. Our meetings, I mentally smacked myself, stalkings didn't count as knowing each other. What was I even thinking? I began to play with my food.
"Are you guys getting along well?" Bryan asked.
"Of course," Steve muttered. I felt a smirk in his voice.
I didn't look up, I buried my face in my food. I got to talk to my crush. Deep down, I actually wanted to say was sorry, since I had started to feel guilty for rejecting his offer to dance that night. Shut it. How could I say I was sorry for refusing to dance because he was cute, aargh, most stupid excuse ever.
I continued eating my food, not uttering a word. I felt if I opened my mouth to talk, I'd make a mistake in my speech so I pretended to be busy with the food.
Don't forget to vote.... 😘
