Steve's POV

The atmosphere was gloomy, I didn't want to return to my room. I was only going to end up sulking and crying and then maybe finally fall asleep.
After which I would wake up and return to sulking. I was tired of doing that. So I thought we should eat out perhaps that would do a bit in getting me better so I said it.
They all looked shocked as I had expected. Bryan agreed and we set off to eat.
Not long after, Jason left claiming he had an appointment, Bryan and Grace also left leaving just Linda and I.

"Would you like to go for a walk?"
That came out of my mouth before I could control it.

"A walk?", she asked looking at me. Gosh, her voice, that heart soothing voice.

"Yes, if you don't mind. I don't want to go back to my room just yet", I said, hoping she'd agree.

"Alright, if that will cheer you up for a while", she said and stood up, I followed her.

We decided to walk down to the river by the park.

"Why did you reject my dance the other day?"
Deep down, this had always been the number one question on my mind, but still I gave myself a mental beating. Why the heck did I ask that? That was not way to start a conversation. Well, I don't blame me. Blame my curiosity.

"Dance?", she paused and stopped walking trying to remember what I was talking about. "Oh, at freshman party...", she started to reply but stopped.

"Yes, I asked you to dance that night but you just left ,you technically didn't even reply me.", I hoped that didn't cut the conversation.

"Should I say the truth?", she said, sounded funny, I smiled.

"You want to tell me a lie", I decided to play along, kicking the stone I saw on the floor.

"I'm thinking of giving you an answer that'll please you", she didn't sound offended. So I went on.

"Something tells me the truth will please me", I replied.

"The truth it is then", she said and continued. "I rejected the dance because I was startled by a cute guy", she said and I thought I saw her blush for a split second.

I mean, I smiled. This girl always had a way of making me smile in my saddest times.

"You rejected my dance because I was cute?", I heard myself laughing.

"Hey, don't mock me", she said while laughing too.

"Okay okay, but then, who rejects to dance with a cute guy"

"Me"
She rolled her eyes as if it pleased her to see me laugh and she wanted to hear me laugh more.
And yes, I did laugh more.

We sat on a bench close to the river.
"I have another question"
I thought I might as well clear everything I was curious bout concerning her.

"I'm all ears", she replied. Her voice sounded even more soothing than usual. I think I was starting to fall in love with the sound of it.

Rubbing that thought off my mind, I asked,
"That morning I met you at the door of the coffee shop, why did you run away after saying good morning?"

"Guy, I don't even know what I was doing infront of the door in the first place."

Disappointed, I looked at her and said.
"Deep down, I actually thought you were waiting for me"

"I did see you turn to come out of the coffee shop, I wasn't thinking though, I suddenly found myself right in front of the door you were supposed to come to from.", she replied not even waiting to breathe inbetween.

"What were you doing at the coffee shop anyway?"

"That's my little secret", she said her lips curling upward as she raised her head looking into the evening sky as though she were really hiding some secret.
That in some way made me curious.

"You don't look like someone who would have secrets", I said looking at the side of her face turned to me.
Her long hair flowing down from her head covering her ear and a part of her cheek. She looked cute that way.

"But I have this one, it's a secret which means I can't tell you", she replied and continuing she said, "By the way, why did you stop following me that day?", she looked back at me in her attempt to change the course of our conversation.

"I didn't want to be seen as a stalker", I was interested in teasing her.
This time I also turned my face to the sky. Enjoying the feeling.
I continued, "I was starting to feel like you were scared I was following you. The closer I got to you, the faster the steps to took. I didn't want to bother you, so I gave up. Moreso, I had an exam."

"Oh", she exclaimed. "I was a little disappointed you didn't approach me though", she added.

"I'll take that into consideration. So next time I find myself stalking you, I'll make sure I approach"
We both burst out laughing.
We talked about school, the stress in it, what kept us going. Our likes and dislikes in the courses we majored in. I found out what Bryan meant when he said she was chatty. That was just the word to describe her. Chatty. There was no dull moment talking with her, coupled with the fact that her voice was so pleasing to the ears.

We didn't notice the passing of time until it became very windy. I looked at my wristwatch and was honestly shocked.

"It's 11:36pm", I told Linda and her face showed as much shock.

We got to the river some minutes past four. I couldn't believe the fact I spent more than seven hours outside talking. The same day my girlfriend was buried. Oh yeah, Susan. I was reminded of her yet again.
Funny, I didn't even think of her all through the passing of that time.

"We should go", Linda said bringing me back to the reality of time.

"Oh yeah", I said standing up and she stood up too.

"Can I walk you to your room?", she said, totally catching me in surprise.

"Why would you want to do that?"

"I feel like I have a responsibility of making sure you get to your room safely, I don't want you thinking on the road and missing your way", she grinned at me.

I smiled. Damn, this girl never failed at all her attempts to make me smile.

"I won't deny you the opportunity to walk with a cute guy", I grinned and she smiled.
We started walking towards the road that led to where I lived.

In about ten minutes, we were right in front of my room, she didn't enter.

"Good night", she said as I turned the knob of my door and left.

I walked into the room, a little tired and cold from sitting by the river way too long. I changed my clothes and laid down on the bed.
In a matter of minutes, I was fast asleep like one who was void of worries.

Guess what my best colour is, yup, Blue.
