Chapter - 5
I ran upstairs as my tears decided not to cooperate and rather form a cascade outta my eyes! I took out from the wardrobe whatever came to my right hand's reach the earliest, as my other hand was busy comforting my eyes that weren't ready to understand that my family didn't try to understand me. I wanted to howl at dad, but somehow I felt that it would be a waste of energy and I didn't want to look weak with all the tears, I decided to leave the conversation and so I did. I got into my dark blue top with my one and only grey denim, took a scrunchie that lay on the dresser to later manage my undone hair. It took me another 10mins to find out the backpack I usually take to college. In the frantic search, I created a disarray of my whole room.
I came out of the room, the door banged behind. From the lawn, I looked up at the window of my room. The schizophrenia patient inside me could see the dark shadow again with a whitish curve on the face, probably smiling at me? I didn't get scared. I gazed at the mean shadow with a thoughtful mind. Why on earth would he choose to disturb this already disturbed soul and not anyone else? What category of a sinner am I? And then to bring my 'terrorlust' soul back to body, a hand felt on my right shoulder and I screamed turning aback. "Relax! Its me, what's up there?" Noah it was. Again! I pointed my finger to The Window. And of course, there was no-thing. Noah gave me a cozy side-hug. Well, I did need that. We started to walk to our College. There was silence. Not an awkward or grudgy one this time, rather it felt like an understanding one.
We both were looking at the very new row of shops, libraries, restaurants, game parlours on either side of the road. There was a store of musical instruments 'YouTune', Noah showed me as he was into music, and surely we were going to sneek in that store later our way back this evening. Just next to that, was a studio, name placard of which read "Jenny's". I faltered my steps further, and tried to look beyond the glass door of the studio. Noah held my hand and started walking faster as we were getting late by then, "No time. C'mon!" he added.
We reached our new college. The campus looked wOw! I went to my classroom, that was on the 3rd floor of the first building, that's where the Fashion Designing block was. Noah went for his class, his subject was Literature. We both were freshers. The classroom and all the unknown yet happy faces gave me an anxious stomach and my face displayed my awkwardness very clearly.
Scene 2 - My jovial brother is feeling great in the new atmosphere. Random introductions were going on, when his eyes fell on that girl sitting alone on a bench. Curious Noah had to find out what was going on with her. Hesitant or reserved!? He walked up to her and sat on the desk in front. "Hi! This is Noah Wyndham," Noah put his hand forth with a friendly smile, but unfortunately, the girl didn't give in to the handshake. Neither did she respond in any other way. Lee, his new friend, came from behind and took him along and told the story. That, her name was Nikki and she was not interested in anything or anyone. She remains disturbed and silent always, ever since she lost her friend, who had committed suicide...
