The Abalone

Chapter 1

Tomorrow, the persona test will take place. For days, it seems normal with my family, school, and Ender. I didn't even notice that it will be tomorrow. Right now, all I can do is leave it with fate. I can't control it. That's what I concluded after contemplating every night.

It's Saturday and there are no classes. I decided to meet Ender in the afternoon but for this morning, I want to walk in the streets alone. I will try to record each and every detail of this surrounding if ever I can't come back here again.

Even if I insist, I can't. There may be no military now who serves the people itself not only the government but there's a replacement for that. They founded The Guards who are more strict, more strong, more scary and they work only for the government.

To be part of the leaders of this country, a leadership test will be carried. Physical and Intelligence tests are decided to determine who is going to serve our country and they will all vote who will be the Kingpin.

I guess the leadership test was really difficult since only 30 people passed 6 years ago among thousands of takers.

As I wander around the place, I saw this favorite spot of mine which is a shop with glass mirrors. I stopped looked at myself and smile thinking how I've matured so far. Then, I continue wandering around until I get myself far from the center.

I stopped walking when I saw that I am now near the seashore. It was really amazing. With our single island country, it was surrounded by Abalone sea shells which are known as the protector of this island. That is what my parents told me and I don't even know if that's true.

I hurriedly ran towards the seashore and held my knees as I stopped and caught my breath. Then, I stood up and smiled at the ocean while spreading my arms. It's really refreshing and I must say that for just a short period of time, I forgot all my worries.

That moment, I realized how amazing this world is and there are more than I can discover. I must not waste any moment on living my life to the fullest.

I closed my eyes and saw Ender smiling at me in nowhere but seeing him even in my imagination makes my heart flutter. This man, I'm gonna fight for him. No matter how hard it will be, no one can stop our love for each other. Whether the distance or the persona will be against us, we will be together. I have no other plans for now, but I am going to make sure that everything will be worth it.

That's life right? We can never know what will happen but it's either we fight to achieve what we want or just leave everything in destiny, if there is one.

I slowly opened my eyes as I can sense that there's someone watching me. I thought this place has no people around it. The side of my lips rose as I knew someone was coming.

I turned around expecting to see Ender but then, there is a group of men smiling devilishly while walking towards me.

Their clothes seem to not belong here as a sentinel. If that is so, who are they?!

"Look at this young lady here, you seem to enjoy this place, huh?" A man wearing a black hat that looks like a middle aged man with weary clothes said.
