Chapter 8

*Jakes POV*

It's already Thursday I didn't see Ali at all yesterday thinking she had to do something I didn't give it much thought. But I haven't seen her at school today either im starting to get a little annoyed. *sigh* bet it'll make her happy if I go look for her I smirk at this idea. She is so easy to please I swear. I walk towards the front door when someone bumps into me. I look at him I'm about to tell him to watch where he's going when he gives me a death stare and walks past me. What's his fuckin problem. I wave it off and get in my car. I pull into Alis driveway I get out of the car and go to knock on the door. Mrs. parker opens the door and her eyes widen in surprise. I smile "Hi Mrs.parker is Ali home? She wasn't at school today so I got worried" I say looking down trying to seem like I'm actually worried. She gives me a faint smile "she didn't tell you?" she sees the confusion on my face "she had to leave today, one of our relatives fell ill and Ali went to go take care of them". Fuck seriously why the fuck didn't she tell me I'm pissed. "When is she coming back" I see a hint of sadness in her eyes "I'm sorry jake she won't be back any time soon.....She's actually going to finish the rest of the school year over there." thanking her I head back to my car. Who told her she could do that shit what was she thinking.

*Alice POV*

I arrive at forks airport grabbing my bags I walk outside my dad said they would know who I was im not surprised seeing how small this airport is. There aren't many people here I scan the parking lot and see a young tall guy with brown hair and brown eyes leaning on the hood of an old blue Chevy pickup. He sees me and starts walking over he hugs me and spins me around. It took me by surprise, he gently puts me back down "you must be Alice. Nice to meet you I'm Mathew but you can call me matt" he says grabbing my bags "yes nice to meet you matt. You can call me Ali" he smiles at me and opens the passenger door for me "alright then Ali let me put your bags in the back and well be on our way". I wonder whos this person my dad trusts he really didn't tell me anything. It takes us 15min to leave forks and reach Sappho Washington. It takes us another 10 min to drive through wooded areas until we reach a cute two-story farmhouse you can see the white paint peeling away in some areas it has a sort of charm to it. Matt walks over to open my door stepping out of the car I see a woman standing in the doorway. I am drawn to her once I reach her she gives me a big warm hug.

She places a cup of tea in front of me I look at her as she walks around in the kitchen she seems vaguely familiar to me. She takes a seat in front of me and smiles "Alice your so beautiful you have my brother's eyes" my eyes widen but of course taking a closer look she has the same dark brown hair although lighter she has the same blue eyes. "Yea she's a real looker Jennifer, I can't wait till she shifts that'll be interesting." I turn towards the voice. Matt! "Excuse my neighbor he can be a bit..." he cuts her off winking at me "Honest" she glares at him "thank you matt shouldn't you start heading home?" shrugging he grabs an apple and walks out the door. "What does he mean by interesting" she looks down at her cup "during your first shift your body goes through certain changes you don't only get stronger you also get more appealing" im still a little confused "you must be tired from you trip why don't we call it a night. Let me take you to your room" I follow her upstairs she brings me into a small room with a window seat giving me a nice view. "Now get some rest it's going to be a long day tomorrow"

Waking up the next morning we eat breakfast before starting my training. To start we meditate "you need to learn to control your breathing. to stay calm in any situation will prevent you from turning. Once you have more experience you'll eventually be able to control it better but for now, learn to control your emotions" she says adjusting my form. "Now to build your endurance so you have enough energy to endure your first shift. Let's go for a run" smirking she starts jogging. Shes fast I try to catch up but soon I'm out of breath leaning against a tree "what tired all ready you're really going to let this old lady beat you?" I hear her laugh "no way I'm going to let that happen". I start jogging again stopping when we reach a clearing. We do some yoga to work on my balance and trust me I need all the help I can get. By the time we come back to the house, my body feels sore. I grab water from the fridge im thirsty. "So Tomorrow matt is going to help learn to protect yourself. After we eat dinner go take a shower and go to sleep." I wash my plate before heading upstairs "thanks for teaching me today I appreciate it."
